Christ is King

“My religious beliefs teach me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time of my death. I do not concern myself with that, but to be always ready whenever it may overtake me. That is the way all men should live, and all men would be equally brave.” — Stonewall Jackson

It is well with the Christian whether he is in the fight or whether he is saying, “goodnight.” He rests in the sovereignty of Christ om waking or sleeping. He has work to do and there is nothing the world can do to stop it. He cannot live a second longer than he wants and he cannot die a moment earlier than evil may plot.

“I know I shall die, and I shall die on time. Therefore, I must make the most of the moments between here and there.” — St. Boniface

There are good works prepared beforehand for each of us. It is not ours to know the hour of our death, but it is ours to know the time of day. We must make the most of the day while there are still time left on the clock.

Ephesians 5:16
Redeem the time, because the days are evil.

You cannot afford to lose a minute, but you can afford to lose a battle. God does not rob the Christian of his courage by guaranteeing the outcome. For the Christian, the rest is in the obedience, not in the result.

2 Samuel 10:12
Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth Him good.

The secret things belong to God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children that we may do them by grace through faith with courage in Christ alone. We fight hard to win and leave the score to Sovereignty.

2 Samuel 15:21
And Ittai answered the king, and said, “As the Lord liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.”

We go with God wherever that may lead. If to death, then may we die with Him that we may rise like Him. If to victory, then may we ride with Him that we may rule well.

“A return to sanity will be a return to an unapologetic acceptance of the fact that men are of necessity going to be dominant. The only choice we have as a society is between whether the dominance is going to be constructive or destructive. Because the poobahs in charge have spent the last generation or so outlawing every form of constructive male dominance they can identify, we are now discovering that—far from empowering women—they have actually empowered destructive male dominance. Put another way, when constructive male dominance is outlawed, only outlaws will have male dominance.” — Douglas Wilson, Virgins and Volcanoes

Men were made to dominate. They were put on this planet to rule and subdue the world. This will either be done with wisdom from above (wisdominion) or it will be informed by wisdom from below (wisdumb).

Proverbs 20:29
The glory of young men is their strength:
and the beauty of old men is the grey head.

Men will either be strong and productive or they will be strong and destructive. They will either conquer evil or they will conquer the innocent. They will either plant and prune or they will rape and pillage. Either way, men will rule. The question is not if men will rule, how will they rule.

“And if you think tough men are dangerous, wait until you see what weak men are capable of.” — Jordan B. Peterson

We cultivate what we celebrate. Men were made to conquer and called to cultivate. When we thank God for the gift of men, we cultivate good men who are good at being men. When we force men to apologize for what God did (in making them masculine), we cultivate weak men who are only good at being better at masculinity than women are. This is why we see men competing in women’s sports and not women competing in men’s sports. This is why feminism is for weak men. Women are not as good at being men as women are so feminism makes masculinity the standard so that it can win. It cannot compete with men, so it goes to war with women, just like the serpent in the garden.

“Men have spoken too soon in claiming that the world has now entered a post-Christian era and we have been fools to believe them.” — Iain Murray, The Puritan Hope

“Strictly speaking, there will never be a post-Christian era, because there will never be an era posr-Christ.“ — Toby Sumpter

Isaiah 9:6-7
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

“Life is rarely easy, but, with Christ our King, it is always good.” — R.J. Rushdoony

Christ is King and He is kind.

John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Life is often not as easy as we wish it was, but it is never harder than it has to be.

Sometimes a hardship is the only way to reach a safe harbor.

Acts 14:22
We must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Whatever tribulations we must endure, they are not too many, nor are they too few to ensure that we get to where God would have us go.

“What is Darwinism? It is atheism.” — Charles Hodge

Evolution is a religion. It is the god of chance going to war with the God of order. It is, as we have noted many times before, Christ or chaos.

“Reform implies form. It implies that we are trying to shape the world in a particular image; to make it something that we see already in our minds. Evolution is a metaphor from mere automatic unrolling. Progress is a metaphor from merely walking along a road — very likely the wrong road. But reform is a metaphor for reasonable and determined men: it means that we see a certain thing out of shape and we mean to put it into shape. And we know what shape.” — G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

Uninterrupted progress is the punchline of apostasy. It claims that everything always accidentally goes the right direction unaided and unguided by anything other than its impeccable timing. The joke is on it though as its Maker and Sustainer looks down and laughs (Ps 2:4)

“I myself am convinced that the theory of evolution, especially to the extent to which it has been applied, will be one of the greatest jokes in the history books of the future. Posterity will marvel that so very flimsy and dubious an hypothesis could be accepted with the incredible credulity it has.” — Malcolm Muggeridge

There are two ways something can be become above reproach. Either it is so strong that no one dares to confront it or it is so weak that no one is allowed to question it. Either it is so exalted that no one can reach it or it is so vulnerable that no one is permitted to touch it. The theory of evolution is of the second variety. It is weak and vulnerable. Thus it is considered beyond reproach to keep it from being exposed. It is the great and powerful Oz putting on a show. Darwin is the man behind the curtain. Honest questions cannot be asked of it. Sincere criticisms cannot be levied against it. Serious inquiries cannot be made into it. It has hardened into a creed. It is cold and calloused

“Materialism is really our established Church; for the Government will really help it to persecute its heretics.” — G.K. Chesterton, Eugenics and Other Evils

Evolution is the confession of the modern world. If you do not recite it, you are excommunicated from academia. If you deny it, you are anathema. You are barred from the intellectual table and forced to wear the scarlet letter, which in this case ironically means not being allowed or permitted to have their letters of recommendation behind your name on your business cards. You cannot be accredited without committing to the creed of blind chance over time being our faithful guide.

“The special mark of the modern world is not that it is sceptical, but that it is dogmatic without knowing it.” — G.K. Chesterton

People are not too quick to throw shade as they are too quick to adopt liturgies. The modern world is chock full of catechisms, creeds, blasphemy laws, sacraments, tithes, and sermons. They persist in ignorance to this even while wearing the priestly garments.
