Brass & Natural Marble: How LYRA Connects with an Interior When we show LYRA to designers, we often end up discussing the materials around it. The stone of a countertop, the colour of a wall, the finish of a mirror frame. LYRA combines natural marble and brass. These materials can complement existing details or create a contrast in a more neutral space. Sometimes, even a small detail, like a grey vein in the marble, is enough to connect the light with its surroundings. Each LYRA is slightly different because no two pieces of natural marble have exactly the same pattern. In the evening, warm light brings out the texture of the stone and creates gentle reflections on the brass. I particularly enjoy seeing how designers work with these details. The same LYRA can look and feel quite different depending on the interior. LYRA is available in stock. Contact us to request additional photos and videos.

On quality. A high price only makes sense when there is real design work behind it, good materials, and years of service. Everything else gives itself away soon enough. And it usually gives itself away in time, not at once. A beautiful light is easy to judge from a photograph, but true quality shows later, once the novelty fades and the piece begins to live in a room. Quality like this can’t be ordered from someone else, it can only be held in your own hands. That is why White Gloves has its own production. We came to it step by step. For a long time we searched for and gathered people with the right skills, chose our specialists, and built a team that knows how to work with difficult materials and unconventional design ideas. Today that production lets us carry a piece from the first idea to the finished object, and answer for every stage ourselves. The precision of the joints, the finish of the metal and the stone, the clarity of the glass, the reliability of the wiring. And how a light looks not only when it is lit, but by day too, in ordinary light. Across the collections there are different forms, scales, and moods. But the principle is one: a piece should be expressive, thought through in its engineering, and at home in an interior for more than a single season.

On the idea behind the brand. There are things you don’t buy for a season. A ring worn for years. A piece of jewellery that one day passes from mother to daughter. It doesn’t chase fashion, it has a worth of its own, and in time it becomes part of a family’s story. At the heart of White Gloves is a simple thought: light can hold the very same place in a home. A good light isn’t chosen to fill the emptiness beneath the ceiling. It gives a room its character, draws the interior together, and in time becomes part of the story of the house. That is why we treat every piece as a work of design in its own right. For its collections, White Gloves invites designers with a voice of their own and gives them the freedom to see an idea through to the end, from the first sketch to the materials, the proportions, the quality of the light. These pieces are created for the brand and live only in our collections. What matters to us is not growing the range for the sake of numbers, but finding pieces that have their own image, their own character, and a reason to exist. We believe in things you don’t want to replace with the next passing trend. In lights that stay in a home through renovations, house moves, and changing generations. This is the meaning we give to the words Lighting Like Fine Jewellery.

INTRODUCTION Light is the last thing you think about when everything is done well. And the first thing you feel when something isn’t. My name is Denis Ovcharenko, and I’m Managing Partner and Co-Owner of White Gloves. But I didn’t come here from the world of design. I spent twenty years among figures and reports - international business, corporations, finance. That experience taught me never to mistake “looks expensive” for “made well”, and always to ask what value is really made of. But this kind of work has a particular quality: it leaves nothing you can hold in your hands. You close a deal, and by the next day all that remains of it is a line in a report. For a long time I’d wanted to do something else. Something that creates a sense of comfort, of home, of things that last. I came to White Gloves early in the brand’s journey, and the first thing that struck me was the quality of the team’s eye. Here, designer lighting is treated the way a jeweller treats a piece of jewellery: the form is precise, the materials honest, and a piece doesn’t simply light a room, it changes its mood. Things like these don’t age; they are passed on. I believed in that idea enough to tie the next chapter of my life to it, no longer as an observer, but as a co-owner. Since then, the team and I have really been doing one thing: turning that vision into interior pieces of true quality. Every collection, every detail, every choice of material, we measure against one simple question - will this still be worth having in ten years? In this blog, I want to tell the story of someone walking the path of building an international brand, one that knows the genuine from the merely striking, and shows it through both idea and result. I’ll be sharing how collections come to life, why one piece lives for decades while another fades in a season, and what lies behind the words “good light” when the work of a great many people stands behind them. 💡Stay with me, and let’s walk this path together.
