I truly don’t know where to begin… Football, I love you.

It wasn’t always that way. Sometimes the most dangerous love is the one you can’t let go of and today, I’m choosing to let you go.

I am officially retiring from the game of football.

After 21 years, I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing. This game has been a part of me my life, my identity. It’s given me brothers I’ll have forever and blessed me with the opportunity to travel the world doing what I love.

When people see me, they see football. But through prayer, conversations with God, and sitting with my own thoughts, I’ve realized something… I can’t fully step into who I’m meant to be if I keep holding on to something that was never meant to last forever.

Stepping away from the game has shown me there’s so much more life to experience. God didn’t put me here just to be a football player He put football in my life to teach me, mold me, and prepare me for what’s next.

To everyone who has supported me at any point in my journey thank you.

To my mother, my brother, Myron, Coach Dun, Coach Mack, Coach Hunter, the entire FCA staff, Coach Collins, Coach Fran, Coach Yelk, Coach Pope, Coach Lewis, Coach James, Coach Omar, Siraaj & the Lifting As We Climb family, my brother TahTah, and all my friends and family… y’all have had a lasting impact on me as a man, and I’m forever grateful.

This isn’t the end it’s just a new chapter. I’ll continue to use everything this game taught me to coach, lead, and inspire. I hope my story can motivate someone along the way.

I got to live my dream of being a professional football player something not many can say.

There’s still work to be done. And like my brother Huncho says… “gotta stay in hand, not out of hand.”

Thank you, God.

Years ago, my son #GrantGrayton played on offense, defense and special teams with the #whiteoakwarriors. They traveled to the national championship in Florida. This team was one of the best in the country. Hard-working, highly skilled boys, dedicated coaches; a truly memorable experience for all. Enjoy!
