What a busy and amazing few weeks it’s been! Lots of driving, putting together my biggest solo exhibition in Canada, and celebrating 25 years with the wonderful Canada House Gallery in Banff!
Somewhere in between, I managed to squeeze in plenty of high alpine hiking, lots of painting, and chasing those incredible autumn colours in the Rockies. Wrapped it all up with my annual plein air workshop in the mountains with a great group of artists.
A big thank you to all the wonderful friends who welcomed me into their homes and made my time in Alberta so special. And, of course, to Mother Nature for all the incredible beauty and inspiration she keeps throwing my way!
Feels good to be home on the West Coast!
Now, back to the easel. Lots of new ideas and paintings waiting to happen!

~new moon~

Big changes have always found me under a new moon—whether it's an unexpected meeting that shifts my entire mindset, or the sudden choice to pack up my life and move across the country.

As I lay in a new bed, in a new place, looking out the window, this is the view. It fills me with so much excitement for what comes next.

I'll leave the light on for you.

𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆.
I’ve been looking through old photographs from the past 30+ years of my art career. I began painting and exhibiting professionally in 1993, right after graduating from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. Looking back now, it’s incredible to think of all the places this journey has taken me.

When I arrived in Canada in 1987 at the age of 16, I could never have imagined the life that would unfold here. Canada has given me so much — a home, opportunities, friendships, and an endless landscape that has inspired my work for more than three decades.

Through painting, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing some of the most extraordinary landscapes across this country and around the world. I’m also grateful that along the way I’ve been able to give something back — contributing to Canada’s cultural and artistic community and sharing what I’ve learned through teaching hundreds of students over the years.

And today feels like a very special milestone.

𝗠𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢’𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆: 𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗳𝗳, 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟮𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆.

More than anything, today I’m simply happy and grateful — for the journey, for the people I’ve met along the way, for everyone who has supported and collected my work, and for the privilege of continuing to do what I love.

Here’s to the next chapter. ❤️🎨🇨🇦

Encaustic paint is comprised of natural beeswax, damar resin and oil pigments. The Ancient Greeks used it to adorn the maidenheads of their boats because it was waterproof.

It’s pure magic to see the reflections at night on the cobblestones. Take your boots or just get soaked as it’s worth it. Dance in the rain on a warm Summer night. #italianlandscapes #italianfood #italianstyle #rainynights #monterosso
