July 12th is a hard day for my family. 4 years ago Mop and Pop were killed. Today we spread their ashes. As we laid them to rest in a special place by their house I felt sad, I felt peace, I felt love and even humor because we definitely have an eccentricity when it comes to grieving and how they should be scattered. Pop was launched out of his beloved potato cannon and Mop was scattered on flowers from her prized garden. They were intertwined and created something beautiful as they did in life. Though it was raining the sun was still shining. The clearing was beautiful and sacred. Pop liked to hide little treasures in the wall of their church for children to find and we still continue this tradition every year. It’s a good way to remember them and it’s always heartwarming to see the flowers left by their friends. Mop and Pop were not only beloved by their family but their whole community. They were the best grandparents. The best parents. The best friends and neighbors. Mop was a ray of sunshine, a flower fairy and someone who could make any situation better. Pop was an artist, a potato cannon and flame thrower enthusiast, and someone who always showed you how he cared through the small things he did. I miss them both terribly and life has not been the same since but today I felt them smiling down on us.

Our first Christmas in our new house ❤️ married and getting to spend it with the ones we love most made it the best Christmas ever. Special thanks to our @ellieee_l_14 for the idea of “Fork ‘n Film.” I think we officially have a new tradition!☺️🎄

We just keep saying it - this has been the best year ever.
And that doesn’t mean it was easy. There were hardships and heartache, but through it all, we’ve chosen gratitude.

This Christmas, my heart is especially full. So thankful for the people I love, and for the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness in every season. ❤️❤️❤️
