"Gilded" || I've been slowly building up my stock of patina-esque yarns + I found this amazing frame so it felt like the right time to create this long-awaited piece. I'm fascinated with patina and I've been itching to create something inspired by it.

"Fantasia" || NFS || a piece inspired by the colorful lyricism in Taylor Swift's "Slut!". The colors meshed together vividly and gave me festive tropical vibes - leading to the name Fantasia. This is my largest piece to date and first foray in letter embroidering. Some of the letter proportions are wonky and I definitely should've used a darker yellow for "sunrise boulevard", but at least I've learned from it.

July is my birthday month. It’s usually my favorite month for that reason. However, I have been feeling like I wish I could almost skip it. I don’t want to celebrate my birthday this year or get older without Kathleen. Last year I turned 40 and the entire month of July I thought of her. So many times I thought I should call her or send her a text. And then when September came, the same thing. Oh, Kathleen is going to be 40. I need to call her. All day on her birthday…I need to call. I never called. I did text a simple text but not everything I had been thinking for months. (If you are waiting to call or text someone that you can’t stop thinking of, just call them. You won’t regret the call. But you will regret not calling. Promise.) I don’t want to turn 41 this year not when she won’t be turning 41 in September. Growing up those 2 months of age difference were such a big deal. What I wouldn’t do to have one more day of our childhood summer’s again.
