Curated by Umar Rashid, 'Thermidorian Reaction' takes its name from the 1794 coup that ended the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. ⁠ ⁠ While the coup stopped the immediate bloodbath, it paved the way for Napoleon’s rise and a new era of control. @frohawktwofeathers uses this moment to highlight a messy truth: the end of one struggle is often just the beginning of the next. Like a Rubik’s Cube, history is constantly shifting; solving one side inevitably changes the rest in ways we cannot always predict.⁠ ⁠ Set in the peak of July, #ThermidorianReaction leans into the intensity of the summer. Rashid connects the literal heat of the month to a sense of social friction where energy and violence can feel strangely intertwined. The featured artists move beyond simple observations to offer different ways of looking at the world.
