I didn't manage to get any camping this summer, but staying in the gers is kind of the same thing, right? I had the opportunity to stay in both Kazak and Mongolian gers while in Mongolia. What's the big difference?
The Mongolian gers were smaller with space and shorter, tall people beware.
Either way, I was able to get quite comfy, always in layers because when that fire goes out, it's cold! #mongolia #homestay #travel #travelphotography #mongoliatravel

MONGOLIA 🇲🇳

Days spent crossing the endless steppe, hiking hidden waterfalls, staying in gers, watching golden eagles move through the sky, and ending the night under more stars than I could imagine with an amazing group of people.

There’s something about being somewhere so vast that reminds you just how small you are, and somehow, how much there it to see because of it.

I came for the adventure, but I’m leaving with an appreciation for a slower way of life, traditions carried across generations, and landscapes that don’t need anything added to them to be unforgettable.

Some places you visit, and some places stay with you. 🖤🦅

Autumn is always my favourite time if year, but it really showed off in Mongolia! The colors were absolutely stunning and the landscape was incredible. The difficulty of the hike wasn't overly complicated but this area was just so gorgeous-crazy to think how close to the Chinese border we were.
This place is so remote, I don't know that I could find my way back🤣 #autumn #mongolia #hike #travelphotography #landscapephotography

One of the most traditional things you can be offered in Mongolia? A bowl of airag, which is fermented mare’s milk 🐎🥛

Nomadic families have been making it for centuries, and it’s a huge part of Mongolian hospitality. It’s slightly alcoholic, a little fizzy, sour, tangy, and definitely unlike anything I’d tried before.

When you’re welcomed into a ger, it’s considered polite to accept what you’re offered, even if you only take a small sip.

Traditionally, the mare’s milk is fermented in a large container and stirred throughout the day, sometimes by everyone who passes through the ger.

Would you try it? 🇲🇳 🥛

House tour of our Mongolian ger in the Altai Mountains with @wanderlustgrouptrips 🇲🇳 🏔️

After our hikers did a the perfect “House Tour” on Mount Kilimanjaro, we were inspired to make one too!! 🤭 Consider us influenced @joshhuelskamp @jordantnewton @lesliejohnson87 & @obrienla 💅

Mongolia has actually been such a dream come true with the most amazing women!

Would you want to spend the night in a traditional Ger in the Altai mountains in Mongolia?!

It’s how the nomadic families have been living here for over 3,000 years & many still do today!

So many more updates to come but I’m currently uploading from a field surrounded by cows & am heading to bed in our cozy yurts before attending the Eagle Festival tomorrow. Too excited to sleep!! 🫶🏻
