The Oscar nominated film about Hind Rajab has Hollywood raving. It tells the tragic story of a six-year-old girl trapped in a car during the war in Gaza.

But when I looked deeper into the timeline and the conditions in that neighborhood that day, some obvious questions started appearing, questions the film never raises.

The area had been declared an active combat zone. Evacuation warnings had been issued. Armed groups were reportedly operating in that same neighborhood at the time.

None of that changes the tragedy of a child dying in war.

But when a story removes the wider context of a battlefield, the audience is left with a very simple conclusion about who to blame.

So the real question becomes:
Is this honest storytelling? or selective storytelling?
