On Saturday I was walking past this building in Oxford when, blow me down! There was the Finials family!
I hadn't seen them in ages.
I couldnt help noticing that aunty Ferrous and Uncle Iron Finial were incapable, again.

'RECYCLADO' - an opera by Gigbutt & Sillyman.

Act 1 Scene 1 - 🎶 🎵

Three 'Rubbermaids' of the pub are we,
Pop in the rubbish, one, two, three.
Fill to the brim. We'll do the rest.
Threeeee, 'Rubbermaids' are we.

I'm on the bottles. I do card,
All of us work really hard.
Recycling cans and plastic, too.
Threeee, 'Rubbermaids' are we.

"Oooooooaaaaargh!" Tis the day to hoist the main brace, straighten the jib, give yer parrot an extra cuttlefish, fill yer flagon with rum and celebrate National talk like a Pirate Day. ☠️ 🏴‍☠️

So! take up the challenge ya'll and squeeze in as many 'ooooaaaargh!'s and any other pirate expressions, into conversation as you can.

A salute to Captain 'Gozo' Wicks on his good ship 'Ggantija' for sounding the cannon yesterday to remind us of our duty today.

Oooooaaaargh ☠️ 🏴‍☠️

Thanks to an 'Experience Present' from Jennie, our nephew Will and I had a great day. Spending a fun, challenging, learning, and accomplished three hours this morning at the brilliant Dragon Archery Centre here in North Devon.
The family team of archers there give the small groups the most friendly, generous, and informative coaching and encouragement, taking us all through the very unusual and surprising scenarios of targets, allowing us all loads of shots, and culminating in having just two arrows each with which to slay the dragon by hitting a 75mm gold spot on its belly.
Such is the benefit of their guidance that today I went from not having shot an arrow for 45 years, to having today made progress through the course until being able to get to within 200mm of the celebrated gold spot! As did Will.

Hurrah! As I heartily slap my thigh, whilst I nonchalantly stand on he branch of an oak tree, lean against the trunk and take a swig of mead from a cow horn before using it to summon the merry band of woods people to gather and then do their deed🏹 🏹 ...... N.B. As I herald from Nottingham, I think I am allowed to indulge in some such fantasy 😉
To be honest, it was all I could do to stop myself turning up dressed as 'Robin Hoodie' .......but I simply could not possibly put dear Will through that!

I thoroughly recommend a visit to this experience if down this way.

Today, in the pub where our nephew works, I experienced a warm feeling of pride to see in this large pebble that, yet again, he is making his mark, making a difference in this world 👀 ; ...... and he in turn, of course, will be influencing others, bravo. (Sigh 😊)
Oh! and he is a damn good barman too 😉

Heaps of googly eye thanks to my friends who work at The Beaver Inn for the bottle of wine and for personalising The Snug into a googly eye 👀 gallery for my fabulous birthday meal there tonight.
And it being pub quiz night was a bonus. We all had a great night. Thank you 😍

Oh, Lees' tea cake!
Don't be glum,
My gooey centred jammy chum.
With your biscuit base and chocolate top.
I'll whisk you from this cakey shop,
And pop you in my tum.
