Riot is so pleased to have Paulette leading the cast of The Martian as the titular character, a supernatural entity who can take the shape of the dead; an angel? A monster? The answer? The end? Find out. Tickets at the link in our bio.

Paulette Romero is a freshman from Mater Dei Catholic High School who began acting at 12 years old. Paulette has taken classes at Hollywood Music and has enhanced her skills with Miss Mercedes Gonzalez, Mister Joseph Advento and Miss Camelina Cedillo. She has performed in Alice in Wonderland, Shrek, The Wizard of Oz. Of those shows she remarks her favorite role to be the one of Alice, because it was the role that helped her find her love for theatre. She enjoys more than acting, her talents include other aspects of performing, especially singing. She would like to thank her family for their constant support in the performing arts, and give a special thank you to her teacher, Miss Mercedes Gonzalez, for being a huge inspiration to her and helping her achieve her dreams.

Riot is so proud to welcome Susan Clausen as “Cora” in the Martian for her Riot debut! “Cora” is a teacher and a mom who has lost her little girl to leukemia, but her own grief is being shunted aside as she cares for her wife Max, as Max spirals into deeper and deeper depression after their daughters death. When Cora wakes up one morning to see their daughter still sitting at the breakfast table she’s torn between what she knows is real and the thing that will let Max press pause on grief…and let Cora come up for air for a day.

Susan most recently performed as Donna in Donna Orbits the Moon at Scripps Ranch Theatre and as Margie in Good People at Oceanside Theatre Company. Other Scripps Ranch Theatre credits include Good People, Absurd Person Singular, Moonlight and Magnolias, California Suite and How the Other Half Loves. Lamb’s Players Theatre credits include The Nerd, Harvey, A Man For All Seasons, ‘Till We Have Faces and The Diviners. Susan performed in Write Out Loud’s Twainfest from 2010 – 2020 and portrayed Clara Schumann for the San Diego Symphony. Other local credits include Defying Gravity, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Auntie Mame, Dancing at Lughnasa and Jake’s Women at North Coast Rep. Susan hosted and co-produced the three part docuseries Lights, Camera, Friendship on the Spectrum with Joey Travolta’s Inclusion Films.
