An absolute highlight of the opening of Sixties Surreal @whitneymuseum was getting the chance to meet @peter.saul.official who was an absolute joy to talk to. We asked what artists he likes and he shared this list, which he carries around in his pocket. Thanks to @willhempel for initiating the conversation.

This is 40 🎂

I took the day to reflect on the past and the future. I wouldn't recommend it. The past brought memories of frivolous youth, simpler times and deep sense of grief, reflecting on the future brought fear and uncertainty. It's best to stay in the present.

Thank you dear friends for the birthday greetings and wishes. In these trying times, it's nice to be reminded of ones community.

Thank you to my lovely NYC friends who made the week special and for treating this lil Canadian and maybe soon to be American feel right at home 😅

a splendidly tea + nature filled holiday weekend

Saturday we hosted The Silence of Flowers: an Ikebana Workshop with @zenstudiessociety + @teaartsculture taught by @ikebana.nyc.

Sunday we collected fresh spring water, enjoyed tea + a picnic under the trees, and went for a hike with dear friends.

In anticipation of my next single as DSLFM, “Inside Out/ Upside Down,” on Friday, March 19th, I’ll be releasing videos of my previous band, Warszawa/ Simple Machines every day until Friday. We were active in Berlin from 2003-2007. @mr_kai_mueller is behind the computer, Robin Dudley on bass. Visuals by @peterkolski This song was an improvisation at the end of our set.

My new EP has two songs originally written with @mr_kai_mueller around 2005. This past summer, I discovered these videos as well as a trove of songs we recorded during practice but never completed. The new EP has two newly completed songs.

This video is from spring or summer 2004 at Mudd Club, where a group of us put on exhibitions and readings of literature and poetry. The band was still called “Warszawa,” in reference to both Bowie and Joy Division. We were a kind of “house band” for these events. @paulscraton and @richard_sekules were the partners in our art/literature collective called “Exiles” which put on these events, with some heavy involvement from @willhempel
Thanks to all! We always had a lot of fun playing those gigs.

And yes, it was the club of Steve Mass, who ran the original, legendary Mudd Club in New York in the late 70s/ early 80s. He discovered us when we did our first event at another location and invited us to make use of one of his spaces.

Please excuse the grainy video. This was before everyone had cameras in their phones! And thanks to Robin’s friend who took the videos. And special shout out to @jackcoghill1 who co-founded the band to play his going away party in 2003!
