First Year (Repped)

-------------------------------------------------------
To all the special people in my life whom I've gotten to spend this past school year with, regardless of whether or not I was able to include you in this post and whether or not you go to UT-Austin, I hope you know who you are; you have helped me learn that there is always room to love even more, and I could never find just ten photos that would include everyone who has left their mark on my life within this past school year.

Also, to those whom I didn't get any photos with, we'll get some eventually. Trust. Memories don't end with the first year.

Finally, a special thanks to one of those guys @neillancaster_ for being my roommate in Jester West. 11th floor was a crazy pick by both of us, and somehow I ended up with the best random roommate I could've asked for.

The 2024 Pan-American Intercollegiate Tournament in McAllen, Texas was a huge success! UT Chess sent four excellent teams to compete in this rigorous event, with players ranging from new tournament players to experienced masters at the FIDE level.

The A team, our only team in the open section, finished with a strong score of 3.0/6. They had some difficult matchups, some against full teams of grandmasters, but still managed to finish strong.

The B team finished with an outstanding score of 4.0/6 in the U1800 section. Their only loss was to Johns Hopkins University, led by none other than UT alum @sam_capocyan (Longhorns stay winning!). Great job B team!

The C team also finished the U1800 section with a score of 4.0/6! They played some very strong chess, only losing one match to the first-place winners, USC's A team. Well done, C team!

FInally, the D team finished with 2.5/6, a terrific performance with several players playing in their first-ever chess tournament. Great work, D team!

We are excited to return next year and come back with even stronger players. Please share this post to spread more awareness for the UT Chess team so we can earn funding to continue to send our teams to these huge events and come home with even more victories! Hook 'em 🤘
