In 2019 I was in middle school I struggled to find a place socially mostly because I was made fun of for anything I really enjoyed like Sonic the hedgehog so I was mostly a shy kid with no social outlet. On Christmas my father bought me and my brother a oculus quest the very first game I ever tried was a social game called rec room. I got my friend Josh and my brother on mobile to hop on rec room and mess around in a private game. A few days later I would end up hanging with them and meeting new people (all of them were my age btw I know surprising for a vr social game) but I would basically play this game everyday from 2019 to 2023. Around 2021 I was starting to really get into the game. Around this time I met my best friend. We would hang out while I watched her build rooms or listen to her explain color and winter guard. Which would eventually lead me to try the sport 😝. Which would then lead me to move on from the game since now I had a different social outlet. But basically this game has shaped me into who I am today and I don’t think I would have met my best friend or even tried out guard if it wasn’t for this game. So when June 1st comes around I will be bawling my eyes out.

Ight I graduated can we roll the credits I’m off to Santa Monica to see my friends and begin my career in audio engineering.
I’m sure as I move into my life I will look upon these years and I will think about the people I knew. The years spent here weren’t good or bad just really in between those two. I will certainly remember the time I spent in guard and with my friends it really sucks I found my calling as I was leaving high school but oh well. As I say goodbye I do hope to see you all again either during the summer or when I visit.
