Nothing is so good it lasts eternally. ♟️

It is impossible to put into words how much this show means to me, and I will forever be grateful for everything that Chess has given me. Florence challenged me in ways I never thought possible, and I am so proud of what I have accomplished and how hard I pushed myself to get there.
If I were ever to get the chance to relive this show, even just for a moment, I can’t think of anything I would rather do.

One of the things I never take for granted is getting to work with students from all over the country—and then, every once in a while, having the chance to meet them in person.

There’s something special about finally connecting face-to-face with someone you’ve already come to know through lessons, conversations, and the shared work of building artistry.

Meeting Sofie this weekend was exactly that kind of joy.

She’s a relative newcomer in my world, but already such a bright presence—full of raw talent, curiosity, and the kind of energy that makes you excited for where the journey will take her.

I’m grateful to Will for introducing us, and even more grateful for the reminder of how meaningful these connections can be.

This work reaches far beyond the lesson itself. It creates relationships, trust, and moments that make the miles between us feel very small.

Watching Binghamton University’s production of Chess, with Will Predmore as Anatoly, I kept coming back to something that’s easy to overlook when you’re watching a performance: nothing about this is overnight.

We tend to see the finished product on stage and assume it appeared there fully formed. But what you’re actually seeing is accumulation.

Years of showing up.

Years of training that doesn’t always feel linear.

Years of choosing to stay in the work even when progress feels subtle.

What stood out in this performance wasn’t any single “moment,” but the steadiness behind it—the kind of artistic foundation that comes from repetition and a willingness to keep refining the same core skills over and over again.

Voice, acting, presence, stamina—none of it develops in isolation, and none of it develops quickly. It’s built through consistency, through curiosity, and through the decision to keep stepping into opportunities that stretch you rather than confirm you.

That’s the part audiences don’t always see. Kudos, Will!
