An artist-led label signs artists, not tracks. SHIFT, the new label from Nichols+Roark, runs ten artists per season, takes no demo submissions, and launches Season 1 at the Faralda Crane on Thursday, October 22, during @amsterdamdanceevent .

Fiona (@fancyforeign) sat down with co-founder Guy Tolhurst on why the label-artist deal is broken, how the SHIFT Mixer built a 400-name list in ten days, and what a label looks like when it treats the roster as the product.

On the bill at the crane: @volkoder, @nicholsandroark invite @humanrias b2b @julianprincesxmf, with Season 1 artists @cristinatosio, @leenapunks, @n1njamusic, @seizmic.music, @sonickraftmusic @timanti__ and @willismusic_ .
