Ranked by Golf.com as the 89th best golf course in America in 2024, Lawsonia might just be the best value of any course in the country. You truly cannot find anything else quite like it, and you’d have a difficult time finding anywhere more fun to spend an afternoon…

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to every single person who made the last two days so special. From my parents to Devin, the student planning team, our amazing advisors, and alumni supporters—everyone played a part in getting this across the finish line. It takes a village to pull this off, and without the support, time, and resources from everyone involved it wouldn’t be possible. I truly couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out. Yesterday was the start of something special that is going to last well beyond my time on campus. Thank you to those who helped me turn my dreams into a reality.

Last year, after the 2023 XC National Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia, I began thinking about what it would be like to host the National Meet, the following fall. There was a lot of unfinished business, especially for the men’s team. Everyone agreed—we needed to be better on our home course in 2024.

At the start of the season, during our training trip in Door County, the guys had a meeting one night outside the lodge. It was a bit of joking around, but there was a majority of serious chat about team goals and how we wanted to approach the year. It was one conversation where all the guys were pretty serious, and it was something that sort of stuck with me.

As the season went on, with a young team and everything going to plan, the idea of a podium finish stayed in the back of our minds. When Nationals rolled around, I knew I wanted to make something worth the moment somehow, but wasn’t sure how to make it worthy enough. I gave it my best shot, but really, I just want to make this post to thank everyone who helped make it happen.

Thanks to @bob_liking @adam.spencer @rowen.ellenberg for taking time out of their “absolutely swamped” Mondays to do the interview, thanks to @clouserb for letting us film on a stressful Monday. Thanks to @maddox_durst5 @danisavin17 and @coreyrholl for helping put the script together, and to @morganmcdonald__ & @monsonalicia for finding time to record the audio. @mickbyrne1956 and @aawatson08 for helping with whatever I needed to make some of this come together. Thanks to @will.smith_8 for some fantastic drone assistance, and thanks to @gzatlin and @thestridereport for sharing their audio for this video. I also wanted to give a huge thanks to @willmoriartymedia, @laurenhaneyslens, @jclouisemedia, @luisxcamera, @xaviergalllo, @bobo.studios, @ae3edits, only one of them really had to be there/give me footage, but they were all a huge help for getting clips for this video. Lastly, thanks to the guys, alumni, and fans for helping pull the entire video together. I’m sure I’ve missed some people but this wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for this group.
