The sun and the moon 🌒

A B&W for the moon and colour for the sun.

No solar filter. No exposure brackets. No blending multiple frames. Just trusting the dynamic range of my @sonyalpha , the way I normally shoot.

The thing with an eclipse is you don’t really get to practise. I’d never photographed one before, and until it’s actually happening in front of you, there’s no test run. The difference in light between the sun and everything around it is insane. You make a call on the settings, expose for the sun, and hope your camera has captured enough everywhere else to work with afterwards.

So after a bit of research and figuring out where in London I could actually get the shot, it was basically get into position, shoot, and hope for the best.

I’ve seen some incredible images from photographers who absolutely knew what they were doing. Filters, brackets, serious preparation and some beautiful results.

Mine isn’t technically perfect. There are definitely levels to this game.

But this photograph is mine. One exposure, one moment, and my version of London under an eclipse, enjoying the show with friends.

Some of my favourite moments from Darling and it’s creation. What a wonderful thing it is to create such silliness with my friends @pivot.point.circus
Thanks so much to @shotbytom__ and @mikeportlock_lifeafterlife for the incredible photos

Figuring out how to look bad at hoop while still doing some fun tricks with hoop bestie and forever princess of my heart @cirquedamelie

Wobbly table hoop time with encouragement from @xe.cirque

From when synchro hoop could exist. Sadly not feasible in a speigeltent but hey it meant we came up with some other fun stuff

Found this and had to share because it’s so funny without context

Was a joy to SM 'Darling' last autumn, a beautiful regency inspired piece at Jacksons Lane from @pivot.point.circus, now making a big and well-deserved splash down in Brighton!

Follow the collective to keep up with upcoming shows!
