Songwriting has always been a way for me to process my emotions and preserve little snapshots of my life, but this song feels especially poignant. The music video for "In The Garden" will be out everywhere tomorrow, Friday 10/23 and this one is steeped in nostalgia and the warm & fuzzies. A lot of love went into making this and I hope you can feel it through the screen. Special thanks to Eliana Mullins who shot and directed, Willow Stephens & Christina Apostolopoulos for blessing the screen with your visages, Kat & Jimmy for lending us your projector, my parents for taking lots of adorable home videos, Laurie Hallak for making me look fancy, and my husband Michael for being the ultimate production assistant and charcuterie curator. It takes a village and I am so lucky.

Gratitude post. 🌞

I’m an uncle now! My sister had a beautiful baby boy this weekend, and idk… it’s really sparked some hope in me.

I know it’s cliché, but new life makes me feel like maybe things can be better this time around. I feel determined to be a lil better, so the world can be a little better for Cash.

(That’s my nephew’s name 💯👏🏾💪🏾)

I’ve also lost almost 100 lbs, which is crazy. Wish I could just donate the fat to BBLs or something. Feels like a win-win. 😂 But fr, I’m proud of my progress. Grateful to have a body capable of hitting the gym, performing, and lugging heavy-ass keyboards around.

The merch sold out. Last year, our merch made it all the way to Germany. (Shout out @lamontapierce ❤️) This year, King in the North made its way to LA and Texas too. Thank you to every family member, friend, and supporter who bought a shirt and believed in what Kala and I are building.

Sometimes I feel transcendent. Most of the time I feel like Sisyphus.

But gratitude is the great equalizer.

I’m grateful for the slow burn. Grateful that I get to share my perspective through art. One day I’ll be no more, but if something I made, or the way I lived, helps y’all or my lil nephew Cash go a little farther, then it was worth it.

Go farther. 🌞

Don’t usually do trends but this one seemed kinda fun! The last slide might be the most important.
