Sometimes the most transformative changes in a house are the ones that don’t look particularly dramatic.

For 20 years, this was our main bathroom. When we renovated the house, we were able to move the laundry up from the basement and turn the space into a powder room with laundry tucked behind simple bifold doors.

It’s not a glamorous transformation, but it completely changed how the house functions.

Proof that good design isn’t always about adding more. Sometimes it’s just about making everyday life work a little better.

Some bathrooms are pretty, then there are the ones that ruin your expectations for every bathroom that comes after. 🙌🏻

The oyster shell mirrors. The pewter-green painted fluted cabinetry. The embroidered linen bird-print Roman shade by @stroheimfabrics , custom lit shower niche… and all the little details that make this one anything but ordinary.

Proof that the details aren’t extra. They’re the entire point. If we’re going to do a primary bath, let’s give her a little main-character energy. 🐆

I love finding ways to create a high-end look without the high-end price tag, and this bathroom is a perfect example of how thoughtful design choices can make a big impact without breaking the budget.
From the shower tile to the vanity, we mixed affordable finds with a few strategic splurges to create a timeless, elevated coastal look.

This powder bath is proof that the smallest room in the house can carry a whole lot of personality. 🤎

For project #EquestrianTraditional, we treated the powder room like a little jewel box—colorful, moody, traditional, and just unexpected enough.

The starting point was the iconic Strawberry Thief wallpaper by @wmorrisandco, which gave us the most beautiful mix of blues, greens, reds, and warm neutrals. From there, we layered in a timeless green by @sherwinwilliams on the wainscoting and ceiling, a deep burgundy vanity with marble, an heirloom mirror, and vintage-inspired metal finishes.

And because this home is rooted in the family’s equestrian history, we couldn’t resist one tiny horse detail tucked into the room (you’ll have to wait for the professional photos to see it). 🐎 I love when a powder bath feels like its own little world—bold enough to be memorable, but still completely connected to the rest of the home.

For sources and similar pieces from this space, comment SHOP and we’ll send the LTK details your way.

A little pattern goes a long way. We paired this botanical wallpaper with warm wood tones and deep, contrasting trim for a bathroom that feels layered, moody, and full of character. 🖤🌿

Before she can say “bath time,” our baby girl already has a royal retreat and a four-dog court. 👑

This storybook bathroom pairs @walls_republic whimsical royal animal wallpaper with portraits of our golden retrievers, each looking ready to manage the estate. Clementine is officially a princess, though her résumé says “court jester.” The tiara is working overtime. 😂

Bathrooms are perfect for bold wallpaper, unexpected details, and artwork that tells your family’s story. This space feels magical now and can grow with her over time.

Which detail would you choose: wallpaper, lighting, artwork, or something unexpected? ✨

Not every renovation has to start with the kitchen.

Sometimes it’s the guest bathroom everyone overlooks. The mudroom you walk through every single day. The powder room tucked around the corner. Or that awkward little space you’ve never quite known what to do with.

Just because a room isn’t the centerpiece of your home doesn’t mean it should feel like an afterthought.

At Canter Construction, we believe the same level of thought, craftsmanship and detail that goes into a primary suite or full kitchen renovation belongs in every corner of your home.

Because when it’s done right, even the smallest room can make a pretty big statement.

So, what’s the space in your home you’ve been overlooking?

Let’s make something out of it.
