From a chance meeting at the Palmetto Bowl to a lifetime of memories, Emma and Craver’s love story is rooted in South Carolina traditions, family and a little Gamecock spirit. ❤️ Their April wedding at Caledonia was filled with meaningful heirlooms, from a grandmother’s bracelet and a family veil to champagne served in their grandparents’ silver goblets. Even their getaway car carried a piece of family history, making the celebration a reflection of where they’ve been and the life they’re building together. We went back to Charleston to photograph Rachel (@r.ohly) & Jeffs colorful, garden inspired wedding! Rachel is an interior designer who loves blue, and you can absolutely see that all over her and Jeff’s Governor Thomas Bennett House wedding reception! Jeff’s linen blue suit was even custom made to stay on theme! They pulled inspiration from Charleston gardens, historic architecture, marshland, and sunset, which turned into this mix of blue patterned linens, aqua details, peach, coral, yellow, pink, and little hits of green everywhere. And I love that it didn’t feel like they just picked a palette and matched everything to it. It actually felt connected to Charleston. The blue and white against the historic house, the flowers feeling a little garden-y and loose, the rattan (VERY Charleston), the candlelight, the colorful guest dresses showing up around the tables once dinner started. Rachel described the day as colorful, joyful, lively, love-filled, timeless, and whimsical, which is pretty much exactly how the reception felt once everyone was actually in it! That’s also my favorite part of photographing reception design. I want the pretty setup photos, obviously, but I also want to show the tables once people are sitting at them, the glasses filled, dinner served, candles burning lower, and everyone actually using the space and sharing a meal and conversation! The design matters, but seeing it come alive with people in it is even better. 💛💙🌸 All the talented vendors from Rachel + Jeff’s colorful Charleston wedding at the Governor Thomas Bennett House : Planner: @getintrigued Photographer: @catherine_ann_photography Videographer: @elephantmemoriesweddingfilms Venue: @govthomasbennetthouse Florist: @willoweventdesigns

One of the weird things about your wedding day is that you’re at the center of it...and somehow you still miss a LOT of it. You’re walking down the aisle, so you don’t see your mom watching you. You’re saying your vows, so you don’t see your best friend absolutely losing it behind you. You’re talking to one table at dinner while something hilarious is happening at another. You’re having your own experience of the day, while everyone you love is having theirs right alongside you. And I think that’s one of my favorite things about photographing weddings. Obviously I’m watching you. But I’m also watching the people watching you. The reactions. The side conversations. The little moments happening just outside your line of sight while you’re busy, you know...getting married. Because you only get to be in one place at a time. Just wait until you see what everybody was doing behind your back. 😉 Planning: @ashevents Venue: @pphgevents Florals: @willoweventdesigns HMUA: @lashesandlacechs
