Another gold one…

This time it’s a water gild on the windows for @ericlyonsltd Balsall Common butcher shop.

I love working with these guys, this is the third shop we’ve painted for @ericlyonsltd All three have been designed by the ever so talented @willworks_ and all have some beautiful 23.5ct gold leaf lettering on the windows.

Go hunt out your local @ericlyonsltd shop for the best pies you’ll ever taste!

Great to have Evelyn @surfersagainstsewage and Will @willworks_ joining our students yesterday to launch a live project! Students will be working with an amazing song from @marthatilston and developing proposals for a music video, event and comms content - we’ll keep you posted as the project develops across the next few weeks! Big thanks to @lizzie_ridout from @macdfalmouth for lending her expertise and to @stevehouse_ for organising the project.

Inspiring talks and brief set by Evelyn @surfersagainstsewage and @willworks_ for @graphicdesignfalmouth and @macdfalmouth students yesterday. Working with a song created by @marthatilston, students will propose moving image concepts to draw out themes from the lyrics. This brief is one of many challenges our MACD students can choose to undertake as part of MACD740 SUSTAIN.

🙌
Thanks Will + Evelyn for the beautiful and meaningful project and big thanks @stevehouse_ and @graphicdesignfalmouth for organising. this session.

We spent yesterday doing one of our favourite things: planting native trees with great people 🌳

With the brilliant Carl and Rai from Plant One Cornwall, we planted nearly 200 native trees just outside of St Ives, helping to restore local habitats and support long-term reforestation right here on our doorstep.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up, got stuck in, and brought both good vibes and unstoppable tree-planting motivation. Your effort made a real difference, and we’re thrilled to have spent the day doing something so fun and purposeful with you all 💚

...and for those asking about more opportunities to plant trees with @plant_one_cic , look out for community planting days, and sign up for notifications on their website.

Chaos, carnage and a whole lot of hard graft!! 🤪 But we pulled it off and Balsall Common is open 🥳

One week from getting the keys to opening day - it was an ambitious project, but we had an unbelievable team of people who pushed through and helped us get this shop transformation over the line! A massive shoutout and thank you to...

👏 James Allen Interiors @jamesalleninteriors
👏 Jim @seven9signs for our fabulous signage
👏 Ross from Scotweigh for installing the tills (who always wins the award for the furthest distance travelled as he’s based in Scotland!)
👏 Andrew from Digi for installing scales
👏 Liam and Rach, our Balsall Common Manager and Assistant Manager (say hi to them when you’re in!)
👏 All the @ericlyonsltd team for dealing with increased production demand
👏 @warwickgardencentre (for swapping out the butchery counter)
👏 Chandrika and Kunal, our interns who have been a huge help behind the scenes and captured lots of content for us to use on social media!
👏 Will from @willworks_ who did our beautiful branding that’s now on the front of yet another store!
👏 @dojamesroberts for our Dojo Card Terminal

We are so grateful for the incredible welcome we’ve received today from the community of Balsall Common. Thank you all for stopping by and bearing with us on a very busy opening day!

📣📣 Half price breakfast and lunch baps are available all week from 8am, so if you didn’t make it today, pop down at some point for a half price bap and a nosey at our new store!! 👏🎉🙌💫

🚨 Big Oil's had 500 meetings with government in the last year.

So we're exposing their game - 22 new oil fields proposed, each one an environmental disaster.

⚠️ Rosebank's pipeline running through protected waters. Glendronach's mercury poisoning our food chain.

The deck's stacked against our ocean. It's time to flip the table 🌊

Last Saturday, thousands of people paddled out at 42 @surfersagainstsewage protests around the country to demand that water companies #endsewagepollution

I was on the tools for Surfers Against Sewage, photographing the headline Falmouth paddle-out protest. Ordinarily SAS get incredible weather for their events - this year 41 locations had blue skies and sunshine, whilst Falmouth was cloudy with choppy seas. It didn’t put people off though, and it’s nothing that a black and white edit can’t deal with.

Whether you paddled out or not, you can email your MP, MS, MSP or MLA to demand an end to sewage pollution via the SAS website.

🌊🌊🌊 It’s the Ocean vs. Big Oil showdown! We’re at London’s High Court to challenge new North Sea oil & gas licences. Oil companies are poisoning our seas. Polluting marine protected areas, harming whales & dolphins, and fuelling the climate crisis.

The UK Government promised to end new fossil fuel licences, so why are they in court defending more oil exploration?

The North Sea is a dying oil field. These new licences won’t lower bills or secure energy, they’ll just drive ocean destruction & climate chaos.

The ocean is rising up to say: NO MORE OIL. NO MORE OCEAN DAMAGE. The future is renewable.

Stay tuned for updates from inside court. 🌍⚖️ #OceanVsOil

Think bigger says @willworks.

Design assets with future use in mind, even if you’re only planning for a one day event right now. Not only will it save your time and resource, it can also help to save the planet.
