“Ragon Mein Sama Loon” | An Ode to Raja Ravi Varma’s Feminist Art | Poetry by Disha Mehta

This video is a poetic visual tribute to the legendary Indian artist Raja Ravi Varma, inspired by the poetry of Disha Mehta.

Through slow, emotional, and cinematic visuals, this tribute explores Varma’s unique artistic vision — a vision that gave women not just beauty, but presence, agency, longing, intellect, and emotional depth.

Raja Ravi Varma transformed Indian art by humanizing women in mythological, royal, and everyday settings. His women were not merely passive figures to be admired. They were thinkers, dreamers, lovers, seekers, and silent witnesses to their own inner worlds. Whether he painted goddesses, queens, heroines, or common women, he gave them a quiet dignity and individuality that still feels powerful today.
