Mom was the best of us.
There are no words to describe what it felt like to be loved by you.
My mom. My best friend. My twin flame.
We know you will always be with Ava-Cakes and the boys.

Iโ€™m not sure where to start to be honest. Letting go of the game of basketball is challenging. Especially when it is not your choice. Injury after injury, setback after setback, God is trying to tell me something that I donโ€™t think I understand just yet. For a lot of people joy comes strictly from a singular source or maybe a couple like sports and family, but for a long time I believed that for me and basketball, I would succeed immensely. I believed in myself and thatโ€™s great, and now that belief is gone and hasnโ€™t been within me in a long time. Couple knee surgeries, and two torn labrumโ€™s later and Iโ€™ve lost what I thought was definitely mine to take in the sport of basketball. Life has a way of changing whether thatโ€™s relationships, job change, or loss in the family. Life isnโ€™t for the weak minded and I guess that is what Iโ€™m getting at. Mentally this journey has absolutely sucked to be real. Mental health is something Iโ€™ve never thought that Iโ€™d fall victim to. The past 3 years Iโ€™ve just rolled with the punches trying to really trust in Godโ€™s plan, yet the hits just kept coming. Rehab, appointments, hoping to come back stronger and making it through preseason this year I was feeling confident, yet another setback with a torn up hip. I guess I just needed to get some of this off my chest to better move on in life especially since the majority of my page is basketball. Lol. But anyway just know that things come and go. Not everything lasts except Gods grace. Learning that is the most important constant everyone in life should know. Itโ€™s the truth! So thanks for reading if you made it this far. Thanks for all my friends and family for your support through it all. Teammates especially and coaches. Iโ€™ve had some great people in my life of basketball and that wonโ€™t be let go of, but the game for meโ€ฆ yes, itโ€™s over. Just know if youโ€™re an athlete like myself who has gone through ups and downs and constant setbacks. You are more than an athlete, God is good, life is good and there is always a light at the end of the tunnel๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ
