Just watched Mortal Kombat II (2026) at AMC Santa Anita. The film encapsulates the spirit of the Mortal Kombat franchise- being over the top and ultraviolent. It is very gruesome. Viewers who feel uneasy with violence and young audiences should avoid this movie. If you like intense violence and the Mortal Kombat series- you’ll like this movie, regardless of whether it’s at the theater or streaming. For Mortal Kombat fans- 8/10. For the casual film goer who just want a film to casually enjoy with a tolerance of violence- 6/10. #brianurquhart #mortalkombatii #mortalkombat #amctheaters #amcsantaanita @brian.urquhart.927 @mortalkombatmovie @mortalkombat @amctheatres @wimmer_tommy

Just watched SpongeBob SquarePants_ The Search for SpongeBob with my friend, Tommy, at Edwards Renaissance. The film has very expressive animation, imaginative visuals, and a heart at the core of its story that has been lacking in the sequels since the 1st film. The humor is hit or miss, sometimes being creatively hilarious and other times prolonging its welcome longer than necessary. This latest sequel to SpongeBob captures the spirit of what fans admire about the franchise and is a must-see for long-time fans. 7/10. #brianurquhart #spongebobsquarepants #regalcinemas #nickelodeon @brian.urquhart.927 @wimmer_tommy @spongebobmovie @spongebob @nickelodeon @regalmovies @regalalhambra

Just saw Clue The Play at the Ahmanson Theatre with my friend. Tommy. Based on the popular game, six suspects are blackmailed for their corruption, but their accuser is suddenly killed. Who is the culprit? It follows the same story beats as the original movie. What it lacks in having the charm of the 80s movie, it makes up with bombastic acting. It is a short but entertaining play that I would recommend for fans of the franchise. 9/10. #brianurquhart #clueontour #cluethemusical #ahmansontheatre @brian.urquhart.927 @wimmer_tommy @clueontour @ctgla

Just watched Bad Boys Ride or Die at regal with my friend, Tommy. The duo have to resolve a case where their posthumous chief is framed for political corruption and must clear his name while dealing with criminals who have managed to get inside the law system. Compared to the previous movie, the plot is much more straightforward. The action elements are very top-notch with themes of guilt and forgiveness mixed in. The comedy can be hit and miss. Its overall a decent addition to the bad boys franchise. 8.1/10. #brianurquhart #badboys #badboysrideordiemovie2024 #regalcinemas @brian.urquhart.927 @wimmer_tommy @badboys @regalmovies

Just watched Dune Part Two with my friend, Tommy and his brother at Regal Alhambra. Paul continues his path of vengeance through becoming the promised figure of the people of Dune- though his decision to do so will alienate the one he loves most. It starts off slow and it focuses more on Paul- a change from the previous part which was much more ensemble focused, but the tradeoff is that it is his journey to accepting the destiny thrust on him. The 2nd half once the main villain appears is much quicker and follows the same trajectory of the David Lynch’s adaptation, but there is more dramatic weight and scale to the story. On a fundamental level, its story is at first a battle of good and evil, but once the major twist occurs, it became a morally grey agenda piece of how religion can be manipulated by outside forces to commit actions that not everyone can accept- but need to happen to avoid annihilation. It continues to be a visual spectacle like the first, surpassing it in aspects such as the monochrome battle in the middle. While the ensemble focuses of the first part is missed, it is overall a better organized film than the first. I highly recommend seeing it. 9.3/10. #brianurquhart #duneparttwo #dunepart2 #regalcinemas @brian.urquhart.927 @wimmer_tommy @dunemovie @regalmovies
