We’re finally back for a new show! No more re-runs (I’m so sorry! lol) This week we’re playing songs that feel ‘Incredibly loud + close’ in the best most abrasive and experimental ways possible. We’ve been looking forward to broadcasting this queue of tracks for you. As always, 3-4pm cst over on CKUW 95.9fm in winnipeg or over on the website/whatever radio app you use. We’ll be playing some @piss_theband, @sunnsetter, @fencing49827, and more

first show back from summer break! it’s a melancholic one. neither of us are going back to school and we’re feeling held by the love we experienced this summer. yet, there’s still the impending sense of anxiety around the cold slowly creeping in. today on band 4 band we’ll be playing songs that reflect the ‘end of summer’ anxiety many of us are grappling with. playing some @sandro__perri, @adamgnade and more! tune in to ckuw 95.9fm, friday september 11 at 3pm CST / 4pm EST! you can find us via your radio if you’re in winnipeg, your radio app or live via the RadioMast link in my bio image of el i took at the cottage this summer

band for band on ckuw 95.9fm in wpg friday, july 24th - 3pm-4pm cst We’ll be playing our respective pics of tracks from the 70s. A pretty sonically diverse era with a major emphasis on weirder studio experimentation and an influx of crunchy electric guitars. This episode will have a more major focus on Música popular brasileira, Ethiopian jazz, Canadian folk, and tracks emerging out of the NYC post-punk scene — something for the whole family. Tune in via your radio app, the live link in my bio or your radio if you’re in Winnipeg!

excited to announce that this week’s band for band broadcast on CKUW 95.9FM will be an interview with Theo, Tom, and Callum of @theovandenhoff about their debut-album ‘Saviour On The Spilled Blood’ released last Friday. tune in 3-4pm CST/4-5pm EST Friday, April 17th to listen to the trio talk about the process of recording the record, touring in Europe, and more. we’ll be playing tracks from the record and in B4B fashion playing songs that inspired the album. link available in bio to listen to the show in real time via livestream. Bio: Recently emerging as one of Toronto’s most exciting live acts, the sullen yet danceable post-punk of Theo Vandenhoff is as much a pseudonymous outlet for frontman/auteur Theo Klaver as it is a sonic chopping block at the hands of Callum Crombie (guitar) and Tom Nixon (bass). Despite being based in Canada, their sound lends itself more to the sardonic European synthpop of Klaver’s heritage and the metallic Northern English cacophony of where Crombie and Nixon grew up. These influences fuse to form their own brand of goth-adjacent music that is equal parts nostalgic and contemporary, all while maintaining a staunchly DIY process where each step from conception to completion is conducted by the members of the band.

SOLD OUT! Our Intro to Music Mixing session is completely sold out (hooray!), but we’ve added a waitlist on the same ticketing link should any spots become available. Reminder for those registered that if you can no longer attend on March 28, please let us know so we can give someone else your spot! Those registered, you’ll be receiving an email in the next few days with more information about what to expect! We’d also like to formally introduce the facilitator for this workshop, Winnie Compton! Winnie is an audio engineer, music producer, and musician who has (sorta) recently moved to Winnipeg! She has loads of experience recording and mixing, doing live sound for venues in Toronto, teaching workshops, engineering in professional studios, and as an artist making great music. We are truly thrilled to not only have Winnie as part of our community, but also to be able to learn from her! Everyone say Hi Winnie! We are so grateful to Manitoba Music for sponsoring this workshop, and to Manitoba Film & Music for supporting our initiatives year-round!

our 2nd annual Fundrive show with @leith_ross is happening this Friday from 3-4pm cst on Band For Band on ckuw 95.9fm in winnipeg. the theme: “pining & desire” in celebration of (almost) valentine’s day. listen to us play songs that make us yearn for being loved and touched and cared for but also kind of anxious. it is equally important that you call in to make a donation towards supporting CKUW. we wouldn’t have spaces like the station unless we had community volunteers and people funding our ability to keep making local music and politics heard! head over to ckuw.ca to find out more about this year’s fundrive! @ckuw_presents
