We worship at the altar of death. We grieve at the success of our fellows because we are ourselves bound to their destruction. But none of this matters because we are destroying the world anyway. The death will spread until all is lost in a haze of white and yellow and warmth—no infernal hatred that cauterizes the wounds by removing the bodies they are attached to—no not warmth—icy, enlightened darkness. But we may even destroy ourselves before the heat of holiness does—the warmth of the wreckage and from which we cannot stray…

If you thought my review of The Tunnel was too long, you might as well get out while you still can. Here's 18 slides of what I got out of this novel.

But guess what? if only They had a brain They wouldn't show this review to you in the first place, because if They get you asking the wrong questions, They’ve won, because what if They’re in your mind…are you not merely falling victim to their ploys…to keep you away? to draw the line between the haves and have-nots, their weaponized hearts filled with the stupid rich holy rockets that have come to pass over us all in the wake of preterition, to eat the poor, souls which have been destined from birth to live for naught…

As far as the eye can see a novel is supposed to be so many things, but Pynchon says f*** that. It’s whatever he says it is and f*** you if you think otherwise. His words, not mine (probably). This book is unforgiving, detrimentally dense, and horrifically brazen in its use of narrative, language, and yet still something I found myself unable to pull away from.

For all you die hard fans, please bear in mind this is my initial read and I am almost certainly misinterpreting a variety of things.

It’s me, Rolly, enjoying the sunset 🌅 aka “The Remains of the Day” as I review the Kazuo Ishiguro novel of the same name.

Mr. Stevens is a staid and socially repressed English butler who is so concerned about loyalty to his employer and what constitutes dignity in a manservant that he misses the death of his father, mistakes the motivation of the visitors to Darlington Hall in the years leading up to WWII, and tragically fails to act on his one chance at love 😔

The overarching theme of “what might’ve been” is so powerful that it truly becomes painful after a while. It’s a beautifully written novel that won the Booker Prize in 1989. I think I prefer the depictions at the end of the movie a bit better, though, as heartbreaking as they were 💔

Three sentimental things to do if you’re not doing a first look the day of your wedding!

1. A first touch. Meet around a corner, holding hands and talk to each other without looking at each other. You could also read your vows here to one another privately before the ceremony.

2. Thoughtful gift or handwritten letter. Have the best man or maid of honor (or really anyone!) pass along the gift/letter to open the morning of your wedding.

3. Have breakfast together. If you don’t mind seeing each other the morning of your wedding day before you’re all ready, have a relaxed, intimate meal or coffee together before your busy day.

For the first two, make sure I’m there to capture it 👏🏼😍 Me and my husband exchanged letters and gifts and it was such a sweet way to be “together” before he saw me walking down the aisle 🧡

FOUR WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGAGEMENT ON INSTAGRAM!

1️⃣ engage with other creatives!!! cannot stress this enough. the more you comment, like, save, share other people’s photos, the more they will engage with your posts! you get what you put in!

2️⃣ CTA— always include a call to action in your caption. almost prompting someone to engage with you in the comments. for example, if I’m sharing a story about my kids, I’ll write at the end “what’s something your kids do when ___?” or simply “share this post to spread the word/help a friend”

4️⃣ produce captions that contain value. share your favorite tip or trick. share what people can expect from you when they purchase your item/content/services. educate your followers, clients and fellow creatives.

THREE REASONS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER ELOPING OR HAVING A MICROWEDDING!

1. getting the “just us” experience. a day solely focused on the two of you!

2. less anxiety about things that come with a larger wedding — seating charts, food/alcohol options, money, etc

3. planning a day that’s true to you. if planning a large wedding isn’t something you want, you most likely won’t enjoy your day. key word, YOUR day. celebrate your love however you want!

if you had a big wedding would you go back in time and elope or have a micro wedding? or if you eloped would you change that? we had a big wedding and even though it was the BEST time ever, eloping in the mountains in front of our closest family and friends sounds amazing!!! plus saving all that money sounds good too 🤪
