Learning in the classroom is powerful. But learning by making your community healthier? That’s life changing. 💙🐶💛 At Saturday’s Community Health & Wellness Fair, Wingate students delivered free screenings, flu shots, and wellness education. 91 percent of the 339 participants said they will make healthier choices because of it. 🐾

We are honored to introduce and celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025 – Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Blessing of the Hands and Pinning Ceremony on:

Thursday, May 16th at 1:00 PM
Doors open at 12:30 PM
By invitation only

This meaningful tradition marks the transition from student to nurse, symbolizing a commitment to compassionate care and professional excellence. During this ceremony, we will formally recognize the resilience, perseverance, and dedication of the Class of 2025—nurses who have answered the call to serve with heart, skill, and integrity.

We look forward to sharing this special milestone with invited family, friends, and faculty as we honor the journey and calling of each future nurse.

Meet Morgan Bruce, a Clinic Director at BenchMark Physical Therapy and a graduate of the Upstream Rehabilitation Institute Orthopedic Residency. From a middle school basketball injury to becoming a Clinic Director and completing an Orthopedic Residency—Morgan Bruce’s journey into physical therapy is nothing short of inspiring!

Morgan’s passion for PT began after an ACL reconstruction in 2011, when a physical therapist not only helped her return to sports but also gave her hope during a challenging time. That experience sparked her desire to be a healer, a listener, and a source of encouragement for others.

Wingate DPT shaped her path by providing hands-on learning, the courage to have difficult conversations, and a foundation of faith, knowledge, and service. Her advice to students, “Just keep going. It is so worth it. Physical therapy is about so much more than just exercises—It’s about connection.”

We’ve had so many FUN unified hangouts over the course of the last year. Here’s a few of our favorite experiences with the athletes that work over at @udimonroenc

Slides 1-4: @wingatewbb helped the athletes with a Christmas themed craft and rang in the holidays with Santa Claus 🎅

Slides 5 & 6: @wingatenursing went on an outing with athletes to the Special Olympics
Southeast Winter Games to cheer on athletes competing in ice skating ⛸️

Slides 7-9: @wingatesoftball took part in a Halloween costume party with athletes. Even the Bulldogs coaching staff got in on the fun dressing as Shrek, Donkey and Lord Farquaad 🎃

Slides 10-13: @wingatenursing helped athletes create beautiful acrylic paintings. Then a month later, the unified partners and athletes went on a field trip where the paintings had been put on display for the community to see! 🎨

Slides 14-15: @wingatenursing conducted a live talk show answering questions from athletes concerning exercise and healthy living 🎙️

Slides 16-19: @wingatenursing helped create a library for athletes and then spent time reading together! 📚

Let’s highlight one of the more unique events we did this year.

In March, Unified partners from @wingate.sota and @wingatenursing volunteered at UDI, where many of our Union County Special Olympics athletes work. The students helped the athletes create a LEGO car which they raced down a massive ramp and they also helped the athletes with a mini-build creation.

Thanks to the local LEGO store @bricksandminifigsindiantrail for helping make this event happen. If you love LEGOs check them out!
