@wingrobbie is bringing a new solo sound performance to @soon_isnow's festival that reflects on the site’s history of contamination and its recent conversion into a public space.

He will also have work in The River Center exhibit Placing Water, open on the same day as the festival, Oct 17th entitled, contaminant of concern (Beacon, NY) Date: 2026

This piece will be on exhibition through Nov 22 in Placing water:

I was first invited to this exhibition to work with a set of recordings of the Atlantic Sturgeon, but those recordings never appeared. When reading about the sounds of sturgeon, I read that researchers had first confused the thunderous sounds of the sturgeon with the sounds of distant trains. While doing a site visit, the train immediately caught my attention as it was stationed nearby. This piece references the site's recent industrial past as a railroad siding dumping site, and a site of industrial contamination. The tracks ran straight into the water. What are the vibrations of passing trains and boats confused for by the fish that listen with their whole bodies? What contaminants remain even after efforts to remediate?

Materials: Discarded railroad ties, transducers, speaker wire, audio on loop.
Dimensions: Varied Dimensions

Robbie Wing is an artist, musician, and composer born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. His practice
focuses on composition, sonic sculpture, psychogeographies, and performance.
His site-specific, multilayered compositions use reclaimed materials, field recordings, and found objects as instruments. Through sound, they expand the sense of time and bring hidden layers of place into the present.

Thank you to @mcnulty_alison and @srossisculpture for inviting Robbie Wing into our festival and exhibition this year.

Come experience this new live work on one of our tours at 2/2:30 or 3pm on Sat, Oct 17, Scenic Hudson's Long Dock Park, Beacon, NY.

Schedule and details in the weblink in our bio.

Autumn/Winter 2026 & Spring 2027

Note:
Due to our parallel Online International Reading Group for Listening, are the physical reading group in Copenhagen only conveying every second month.

Invitation:
Dear Friend in Listening,

The Laboratory for Sound at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools of visual arts and the Bureau for Listening are delighted to invite you to join the fourth season of our reading group for listening.

Through 4 sessions we will read and discuss new, experimental as well as key texts related to the subject and practice of listening. In each 1,5-2-hour session, we will start with a collective reading circle (reading the text together) followed by a collective discussion of it. It will be an opportunity to critically evaluate different aspects and accounts of the notion of listening. We aim for being an inclusive group, and all fields of the arts and research are welcome to join, as listening as practice moves across all disciplines.

Sign up by contacting Rune Søchting, email: rune.soechting@kunstakademiet.dk
We look forward to engaging with a variety of texts and exploring the art of listening together, expanding our thinking and cultivating a richer understanding of this vital practice.

Sessions will be conducted in English/Danish. While we encourage you to attend as many sessions as you can, there is no obligation to participate in every meeting by signing up.

Warm regards,

Lukas (Bureau for Listening) & Rune (Laboratory for Sound)

ᎠᏲᎧ (Ahyoka) is going to Appalachian Queer Film Festival (@appalachianqueerfilmfest)
We made this film for communities first and its unending support from Appalachia is a large reason of why it exists today. Now it’s screening in West Virginia, in the mountains. A Cherokee queer story chosen for a queer Appalachian audience.
September 18-19, Shepherdstown.
Again, thank you to @appalachiancommunityfund, @appalachian_rekindling_project, and @waymakersco for believing in this story.
More screening news coming. This is the first of what we hope will be many.

We had such an amazing time and felt incredibly welcomed by @museumofthecherokeepeople at The Way We See The World 2026. Having a moment to share with a homeland audience an advance screening of @ahyokafilm was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. ᏩᏙ/ᏍᎩ to the hundred of people who came out and had encouraging things to say about our film. You all are very much appreciated.
