Our little Persian old ladies are together again:
Beatrice Goicochea, Bea, Beetle, Bea-yonce with a call way outsized for your 5lb body, you, like your sister Winnie, were another discarded free cat but an absolute million dollar, middle-aged queen when we met you. Protector of your sisters, you gave us 11 happy years together filled with sun-bathed lounging, 4am meows for food, and headbutts until you got your way all the way until the end. You were fierce beyond all belief (like your dad Puss in Boots, we’d say) and we knew when Win left us, your heart was with her. We’re shattered by your departure and will miss you and your little lion spirit forever, Bea-Bea. Take care of 🐼 and the gang, 🦁❤️.

Today we launch our series featuring members of our community and their adopted companions. Today's story comes from @evagoicochea.
⠀
"In my life, I've had nine rescues—all shih tzus or persian cats, like Bea (🐝). When I think about the animals I'm most drawn to, they're usually down on their luck and of a golden age. My first rescue when I was 9, Buster, was a snaggle-tooth epileptic senior shih tzu whose family didn't think he'd make it through the six week quarantine he'd face when they moved to Hawaii. ⠀
⠀
Bea was no exception. We rescued her from a woman near Palm Springs who was fostering her and a million other pets. We went for a black and white persian cat with a $300 adoption fee. We walked out with a Bea instead. She gave her to us for free because she had been hiding in a bathroom for a year, with no social skills. ⠀
⠀
Now, she's a total lovebug. A grump, sure, but once she warms up to you, she'll basically be your shadow. She also likes finding nooks and crannies to hibernate in and she's a big fan of this blanket. Looking this regal, you'd never knew she had it rough. #adoptdontshop"

Really on top of work this morning. ☀️💻 How are you managing #WorkingFromHome?
.
When we started out, it was tough balancing our ‘need’ to do 🧺 laundry and keep the children 🥳 occupied — never mind actually getting work done.
.
These are some of the tips that helped us:
💻 Set up a designated work area
💼 Get dressed (bye, bye pajamas)
📝 Organise your work-day — what do you need to get done today?
😌 Decide up front when you’re going to take breaks 📱 Unless it’s absolutely necessary, keep your cellphone in a different room
🚫 Don’t work in the same room that you sleep in
🐱 Connect with your co-workers online (or, chat to the cats/ dogs/ goldfish)
💭 If you feel your mind wandering, get up; stretch; refuel with some water/ tea/ coffee and then get back to it.
.

Bea’s advice through these trying times (and always): Sleep and solitude—except when you need someone to feed you. Then wash your hands first. Leave the dishes for them.

How’s this for a family portrait? New conversation on our website with @evagoicochea, CEO of @getmaude. She and her husband @igoicochea are parents to four (!) rescued senior pets: two shih tzus, two Persian cats, all four angels, and they live in the most spotless Greenpoint home to fuel your minimalism fantasies.
