Our Annual Celebration brought the community together to celebrate another successful year of urban storm water projects, prescribed and cultural burns, Emerald Ash Borer trapping, invasive weed control, Oak habitat restoration, Traditional Ecological Inquiry youth programming, and an incredible finale to the decade-long Snag Boat Bend project! With 120 people joining in, we voted on a renewing Pat McDowell’s board position and gave 3 awards to some outstanding people and partners: Jabrila Via, Amanda Gonzalez, and Haley Construction. We can’t express enough gratitude to our hosts Josiah, Angela, and Chef Elliott Pustman at Camp Lutherwood, as well as the fantastic McKenzie Crossing Bluegrass Band. Our Business Sponsors include Café Mam, Bauman Tree Farm, Giustina Land & Timber Co., and Oregon Pacific Bank. To create the perfect meal, Deck Family Farm, Wintergreen Farm, and Lane County Bounty donated food grown and raised exclusively in the watershed! Our wine for the evening was also produced in the Long Tom Watershed and generously provided by King Estate Winery, Antiquum Farm, High Pass Winery, Walnut Ridge Vineyard, Brigadoon Wine Co., Hinman Vineyards, and Blue Bird Hill Cellars. A special thanks to our prize sponsors as well - Mountain Rose Herbs and Nothing Bundt Cakes! We are so fortunate to have the support of the community, our members, landowners, business sponsors, and partners. Thank you for helping us make new connections and celebrate our Long Tom Watershed! #watershed #longtomwatershed longtomriver habitatrestoration #camplutherwoodoregon

What exactly is bulk buying—and why do we love it so much? 🥕🍎🫘 Buying in bulk is about more than stocking up. It’s a way to eat with the seasons, save money, preserve the harvest, reduce shopping trips, and put more of our food dollars directly into our local food system. Buy what’s abundant now. Eat some. Store some. Preserve some. Share some. Ready to start filling your pantry? Learn more about Fill Your Pantry: 👉 willamettefarmandfood.org/fillyourpantryfaq Stock up today. Eat local all winter.

Today’s episode of the salad beautification project: The one problem with this one is you can’t see how beautiful the red Butthead lettuce is, since it’s underneath so much other goodness. Included in today’s salad: 🥗 Red butterhead lettuce 🥗 One Persian cucumber 🥗 One scallion 🥗 Two cloves of Blanak 🧄, from my friends @tilthworks 🥗 One grated purple carrot 🥗 Sheep-milk feta. 🥗 Tomatoes, both from my garden and the store. 🥗 A little bit of purple basil from my garden. 🥗 Petals from three calendula flowers 🌼, from my garden 🥗 Not pictured: crumbled @freddyguyshazelnuts All dressed with good olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Most of the veggies here come from @wintergreenfarm or @fullcirclefarms unless otherwise noted. The lettuce comes from my local farmers market, so I trust that it’s safe. how are you enjoying the late summer harvest? #SolidBeautificationProject #FarmersMarketVeggies #KnowYourFarmer #JoyIsMedicine.

We love this time of year in the packhouse! The tables are laden with all the glory of Willamette Valley agriculture, and we marvel at the productivity of our friends and collaborating farms. This is what it looks like on Tuesdays and Fridays as Rebecca and the team pack up the eggs, fresh produce, baked goods, dairy, and dry goods. On Mondays and Thursdays, a team from the Deck Family Farm side pulls all the meat and frozen items out of the freezer and sorts them for individual orders. Then, all those items are put in totes and coolers and trucks and brought to our customers from Portland through Eugene. We take them to 4 Saturday farmers markets, 19 dropsites and many home deliveries (in Eugene, Corvallis and Springfield) every week. All. Year. Long.
