The trout game in Colorado is technical. It’s all about presenting precisely what a fish wants to see before it ever opens its mouth. Much more nuanced than most of the saltwater fishing I’m accustomed to. Still ramping up out here and I can’t wait for what’s to come.

Been still water fishing a lot this season and I’m absolutely loving it. It’s a lot of hours looking/ working/ casting for a fish but when you get into them it’s always a “wow” moment. I honestly can’t get enough of it. Book a lake trip with me sometime. I think I can turn you into a stillwater junkie too.

✨ All I wanted was an E P I C summer adventure and boy did I get all of that and more!
A glorious week at Flathead Lake Lodge in Montana (which might well be the bestest most fantastic assignment EVER) and then a few (but not enough) days visiting Birmingham friends in Winter Park Colorado.
.
Horseback riding, fly fishing, sporting clay shooting, sailing, sunning, paddle-boarding, riding in a parade, a breakfast ride, a dinner ride to a steak fry, a Pinzgauer ride, FIREWORKS, jello shots, bingo, bourbon, new friends, lots of 🍀 four-leaf clovers, wildflower arranging, hiking, hot tubbing, dogs, moose, elk, eagles, osprey… and so many great stories.
.
Immense gratitude to anyone and everyone who played a part in making this adventure a reality. My face hurts from grinning (and being happy makes me age in reverse.🤗)

🎣 Had the best day, fly-fishing the Colorado River with Winter Park Flyfisher. Laughing because the only bet I won was catching the first fish of the day (teeny-tiny); all the lunkers eluded me. I can cast and mend great, its that snap I haven’t nailed yet (which only means I need to do this more often.🤗)
.
But errybody else caught a ton! So if y’all need a guide in these parts, highly rec this outfit my friends found✨ They were knowledgeable, professional, funny, even-keeled, (AND packed a terrific lunch.)
