📣RE:FORMAT Liverpool Games Summit Photography 📣

On October 1st, we welcomed over 100 games industry leaders from across the UK to Liverpool for a day of talks, panels, insight and meaningful networking to @brabners Liverpool! 🎤🤝

Across the day, we heard from some brilliant voices working across publishing, game development, investment, hardware manufacturing and beyond, sharing their experiences and insights into the key developments shaping the wider video games ecosystem.

Our fourth RE:FORMAT Games Summit was completely sold out, and we're incredibly proud of what we built together in Liverpool.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, our amazing speakers, and every partner and supporter who helped make the day possible. None of this happens without you.

Here's a first look at some of the photography from the day.

Official photography release coming soon.

Ten years ago, I had a dream.

And I was laughed at by my industry for having it.

I saw a lack of events within what I consider to be the greatest entertainment industry in the world: the video games industry.

I believed people needed somewhere to come together. Somewhere to make connections, build friendships, create opportunities, make memories and, for a few hours, forget about everything else going on in their lives.

From that mission, @format_group was born! 🧡

And over the last 10 years, this journey has allowed me to build a life that I could only have dreamed of back then.

We went from a small bar meetup in Manchester's NQ to becoming an award winning events company working for the video games and technology sectors.

We've hosted events in Manchester, Liverpool, Brighton and beyond.

We've been trusted with TEDx licences.

We've worked with some of the biggest brands in the creative and technology industries.

We've welcomed dozens of incredible speakers to our RE: FORMAT summits and @tedxnorthernquarter conference.

We've brought thousands upon thousands of people together.

We've raised countless funds for causes that mean so much to us.

But most importantly, we've created community conduits that have changed people's lives in ways I'll probably never know.

And that's why I do this.

Watching someone walk through the doors of one of our events, make a connection, make a friend, create a memory, embrace somebody they may never have met before, live completely in the moment and leave whatever problems they might be carrying at the door...

That's the greatest reward I could ever ask for.

To create spaces where people can simply be themselves is something I will never take for granted.

Because of this mission, I get to wake up every single day and do something I truly and utterly love.

It is by the grace of God that I'm even here to write these words.

I'm incredibly grateful that I've been given the opportunity to build a business that brings me so much joy, and meaning to others.

To everyone who joined us to celebrate 10 years of FORMAT Group, thank you.

I have something much bigger to announce soon.

It's time for change.

WE DID IT!! 🧡

10 years.

Honestly, we're feeling all of the emotions right now.

This week, we celebrated 10 years of FORMAT Group events by delivering our biggest FORMATGG: The Ultimate Gaming Social yet, alongside RE:FORMAT Games Industry Summit and FORMATGG After Hours.

Three days. Three venues. Over 1500+ tickets across 3 days. So many incredible moments 🥹

And when we take a step back and actually think about how far we've come, it's pretty hard to articulate into words.

10 years ago, FORMAT was a group of underdogs meeting in bars around Manchester's Northern Quarter, trying to create an events movement we couldn't find anywhere else.

Since then, we've grown into a community that brings gamers, developers, studios, publishers, creators, investors, tech companies and friends together year on year.

We've travelled to different cities. We've built events. We've worked with gaming changing brands. We've changed the events game for the UK takes industry! 🔶

But most importantly, we've built something that belongs to the community.

And last week was a huge reminder of exactly why we started in the first place.

To see countless amounts people coming together, meeting new people, reconnecting with old friends, discovering games, dancing, laughing, creating memories and simply enjoying being part of this industry was incredibly special.

To everyone who has supported FORMAT over the last 10 years, whether you've been with us from the very beginning or walked through the doors for the first time last week, thank you.

To our partners, friends, speakers, creators, exhibitors, performers, volunteers, suppliers and the incredible team behind the scenes, thank you.

We genuinely could not have done this without you.

We're going to take a little bit of time now to breathe, recover and let everything sink in.

Then we'll be back.

Our event videos and 2027 dates will be revealed very soon! ⏳

The Astro Burn Cute em up game tour continues, and this time we were in Liverpool at the epic @format_group @teamkuoda event. The mini Arcade ( powered by @wired2fire ) was super popular as the awesome streamers and content creators all got their button bashing skills on! We also had the Android mobile version on hand to play for those causal gamers. Such a great vibe and so lovely meeting and speaking to the players and fans of our indie modern retro game 😸. #retrogaming #gamingevent #gaming

The games industry is changing fast. Studios are navigating uncertainty, difficult decisions, financial pressures and an increasingly volatile landscape.

Hosted by @andycoleynlp,the panel will explore:

🎮 Navigating uncertainty and difficult decisions

🧠 Managing pressure and responsibility

We still can’t believe the reception we received at Gamescom.

It’s been nearly a week since we left Cologne in a van packed to the gills with our booth. To say we had a great week would be an understatement. Seeing people play our latest build and watching them react to the news about our upcoming co-op playtest was awesome!

And in no particular order, here are the highlights:

On top of receiving one of the most incredible spots on the @_indiearenabooth, we also got onto their limited edition Vinyl! We were also runners up in the Best Booth category (shout out to Rekur from @kaleidoscube for their incredible booth!).

We were selected to take part in the @igndotcom Awesome Indies Show, and received the “Your heart called. It’s concerned” prize. It was super exciting to be on an IGN livestream and thought the interview went great!

@gamescom and @gamestar.de also kindly came over for some interviews, giving us a chance to platform our games to their huge audiences, something that us small indies are incredibly appreciative about.

Lastly, we wanted to shout out all of the incredible people we met, whether they were just checking out indies as a punter or industry peeps who saw something special in our project. Thank you to all of you, and we look forward to talking in the future!

And none of this would have been possible without @wired2fire, without your gaming PCs we couldn’t have brought our game to nearly as many people as we did - thank you!
