We started @ecstaticdancela in 2014 with an intention to facilitate this dj driven, sober, conscious dance practice as regularly as possible, and make the practice of #ecstaticdance as widely accessible to the #lacommunity as we could. Here we are 12 years later- over 550 regular events in, and more special events which we’ve done across the country and internationally, and we’re still going strong.

Thank you to everyone who’s been a supporter dancing with us, working with us, playing music for us, hosting us all these years.

Tomorrow we celebrate the completion of our 12th year of bringing people together who love to dance ! Please join us at Venice Beach 3:30-6:15, and a stay around for an after party in the area if you can. Bring family, lovers, and friends.

Thank you all for your support.

Love Atasiea & Robin

3/3 “Hope for the Future (Longing)”

This is the third track from the Art and Science of Social Justice MoMA project! @themuseumofmodernart

I originally made this song for a Spatial Audio album that we released when I was part of @theresonanceexperience in Los Angeles

When I came into playing this song I didn’t have any idea of the name that would come to be for the track , only in the listening afterwards I found words for my feelings, this song was about a longing , a grief of a time that I have never lived yet felt so familiar

In this grief I realized that there is something about the ancestral that gives hope for the future , feeling like somehow somewhere in our lineages or alternate realities/lives , someone had everything “all figured out”

I find the going back into the past and touching in to the roots a deeply inspirational experience for the future , feels like the future is to return back to the Earth and ground ourselves , we live in such a disembodied society with real serious repercussions

After meditating, this track felt like a perfect match to go along to the art piece “Hope for the Future” by Charles White

In this artwork you see all the death and withering of the past in the tree, the look of fatigue in the parent and all energy seems to be focused on the hands and the innocent and bright face of the child

For the anxiety of the times we are in, with lots of fear of the doom possible, more than ever cultivating hope is so important, I think the children and the dream of a more peaceful future is a fountain of deep motivation

Returning back to the Earth when we can and giving meaning to our daily positive actions no matter how small they seem, are seeds of hope for a better future

Go on a little journey through the magical medicine melody of Ahhscape. Before it became a part of the latest @sonic_devas recording ‘Ahhfirmations’ this simple melody by @divasonic weaved its way through many forms and expressions as its own thread that defined our ensemble experiences over the years. Sometimes the simplest expressions are the most powerful. Have fun listening to the evolution of this melody in the context of all these different magical places we performed

#1 - Debut performance at @stjohnsla

#2 - 2nd @stjohnsla performance

#3 - DnB remix version at @wisdome.la with 360 visuals

#4 - Faster jam version with @sonicbutterflyofficial

#5 - Intimate quintet at @theportal_house

Finally finding its home within the context of ‘Ahhfirmations’
