New face on the gram. It‘s me, Patricia (aka @witch__mother). I am about to start my medical herbalism studies; funds pending. The delusion is high but I‘m determined. Anyway…

I‘ve been a fully practising witch for the best part of a decade and have dabbled for most of my life. Herbs have become very close friends of mine, especially since *modern* Western medicine has really let me down with my womb issues and all the resulting ailments and disabilities that have resulted from that. Things that I have tried so far have helped but I haven‘t been quite as consistent as I wanted to be yet. So here‘s to having an online diary again and sharing what helped.

I‘m also a big fan of sharing knowledge and teaching. So there will be a series on herbs (once I know them well enough) and their medicinal as well as magical properties. I‘m currently doing all the research and have started experimenting.

I have also just started an anarchist garden and will share what I‘m growing and foraging. If that sounds like your bag, then come join me!

And if you want to support my delusions and help me become the medical herbalist I want to be, I have left a link to my Ko-Fi for you where you can support me monthly or chuck a good chunk towards my goal. Deadline is 3 August 2026. 😬

Disclaimer: I am not a medical herbalist yet and won‘t be for at least another four years. And even if I was, it would be unethical to give you advice and claim that things will heal you. All I‘m doing for the time being is sharing my journey.

Art is resistance.
Remain grounded as stars sustain you.
Let dreams and emotions feed the crop.
We are made of star stuff after all. 🔥✨

Hey, hello, Kia ora!

I was asking a friend biz advice @witch__mother about getting back online & they profoundly said, open app and push record 🤌🏾😎 so here I am.

Another question was answered....
" what is the block to SM?". Mmmm... Well! The world is a hellscap!!! Like crawling into the underworld is safer than being here on earth!

HOWEVER! The biggest form of resistance at this time is to fight the fight AND lean into aroha/ love! Authentic bloody love ❤️ Not woo woo love and light bull💩, aka spiritual bypassing but gritty flawed love. The stuff that you ugly cry in sweatpants, & a beanie cause you haven't brushed your hair kinda love! Its messy and whole hearted.

I want to share the learnings of 'time after a tangihanga'. I would love for you to follow along and please share your thoughts and feelings if you feel inclined too!

Much love, Mauri ora

New on The Portal this week 🌀

@ruthcoatestherapy’s Sunday Pages - a space to gather each month to be supported and inspired through therapeutic writing. Each month, write on a new theme, with the prompts often in tune with seasonal change, and with personal and collective growth at heart. The theme for March is the therapeutic letter ✉️

The Pluto in Aquarius Astrology School with @witch__mother makes astrology tangible. You’ll learn how to read your own chart and cast your own horoscope. You will get in tune with the moon and all the other planets. You will be able to look at the day’s transits and feel into what they mean to you. You will know when the best time is to move house, set intentions, make plans, rest, quit that job, cut your hair, go shopping and make the big and small decisions in your life 🪐

The Soap Box - the community for online business owners with a social conscience, who want to feel confident sharing their values - has been relaunched for free by @allwordsbypeta. Sign up to explore what it means to weave the causes you care about into your business messaging, and how to navigate creating dialogue with your audience 📣

And a very big welcome to @ayurvedicallybalanced, @gemeinshift, @mindfulstylecoach, @staci_kat and Rebecca (who is too cool for social media 🙂)

All have jumped in on The Portal 2.0 to begin creating in June 💫 and networking now 👀

When the occupational therapists assessed my needs for discharge, they asked, What will you need? My first response was, Well, I need help feeding my children, tending to the home, doing the school run etc.

She slowed me down. What do you do when you wake up?

I told her—I get up, journal, meditate, pray, shower, dress, make coffee, wake my children.

She asked again, Can you do that unaided right now?

I cried. I couldn’t.

By day 4, I lay in bed, slightly relieved from pain but aware of my body. My own scent told the story of detox and stagnation. I felt self-conscious, wondering how I would freshen up when I couldn’t even stand on my own. And I had overheard conversations behind the curtain that made me reluctant to ask for anything.

Still, I cried enough tears to let the words form. Can you help me freshen up?

She said, Of course.

She brought warm water, towels, a fresh gown. And as she pressed the cloth to my face, I cried again. Tears of shame. Of grief. Of realising how hard it is to receive.

She washed me—from my face and ears to my toes—with care, with dignity. She dried my tender skin, massaged in cream. And then, as if she knew me, she said, "Right, let’s change these sheets. There’s nothing like getting into a clean bed"

The tears I had to shed to activate my mouth were three days of resistance. Three days of defying my own needs because of shame.

But this experience has also been a lesson in the power of community.

Here’s how my people have held me:

My mum & her husband – Nurtured my children. Showed up for school runs and homework.

My soul sister – Cooked for me.

My mum & aunty – Advocated for me when I didn’t have the strength to fight.

My soul sister – Made me shampoo, shower gel, and brought nourishing smoothies.

My soul sister – Came to the hospital and bathed me.

My soul sister – Greased my scalp & combed my hair.

My soul brother – Sat with me in my tears, my fears, my hopes. Prayed over me.

My soul sister – Took me outside in a wheelchair, just so I could feel the wind on my skin and see the sky.

Community is life-giving.
The ability to receive is healing.
The power of care is sacred.

Day 26/90 snippets of my week

Tēnā koutou katoa gorgeous souls,
what a delightful day!

I went to a 'Rage and grief circle' with @witch__mother. I highly recommend getting amongst a rage and grief circle. I had a huge light bulb 💡 moment in Patricia space. I realised that I had a narcissistic abusive relationship with fear. I do all the behaviors you do in a toxic relationship. All the guilt ridden thoughts, knowing the relationship is terrible for you, yet it's somehow better the devil you know in your mind. I am a slow burner and still processing, so I will share more as I traverse my 💡 ding moment.

Afterward, I had an amazing gift of bearing witness to some truth, pain, and tears of dear friends in the cult. I don't feel comfortable sharing other people's stories. However, there is so much sitting in my heart that I would love to talk about concerning the vulnerable people in our society 🧙‍♀️

Came back to the beach with my love 💓 after therapy. How blessed am I! To fully allow love in, love of others, love of community, and loving myself fully💜🩵💚💛🧡❤️

Day 9/90 Self Rehab

A flow from yesterday's post had me gush out another vlog about the power of community.

I felt inspired to talk about Hannah Graves @cultmothertarot and her fabulous cult. Which is Hannahs online community created through Patreon. Hannah encourages authenticity about spiritual practices with her unique punk vibe, which I adore. She is generous in presence, compassion, and integrity ❤️

Hannah quite often talks about finding the community within the community, and gezz have I hit the jackpot with @hauntpunk @leenerella @stardustpaste @the_witchyscientist @witch__mother mimithenaomi And a special mention to you @yawning_in_yorkshire ya gorgeous git 😘 😉 coming in with all the amazing advice, overshares 🤣😂😅 that have us holding our head in our hands with laughter 😀 🤣
