Attending ACU has been the best decision of my life. Not only have I grown as a person, I have grown in my relationship with God. I’ve seen the Holy Spirit flow through this campus. Introducing me to people that would turn into lifelong friendships and that also would help me grow in my faith. Especially the privilege of being a part of Gamma Sigma Phi. The Kinsmen there have shown me how to be a better person and friend. Most importantly, they have shown me how to be a better Christian. I’ve found a community here that I wouldn’t have found anywhere else. This was all part of God’s plan for me!

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Back in 2021, I first came to ACU with the purpose of being a student athlete for ACU’s Cross Country and Track team. My identity lied primarily in long hours running with the team every morning (sometimes twice a day to get the mileage required) training for the races that followed. Then I got injured. In an instant, the plans I had made for the next four years were shaken… but little did I know God had different plans.

With this newfound free time in my schedule, I stepped into new opportunities, things I wouldn’t have considered if life had gone the way I planned. I found community joining a fraternity, something I didn’t even know existed at ACU when I applied. I studied abroad in Oxford, an experience that connected me to future housemates and eventually a job at the Study Abroad Office (“did you know I studied abroad?”). I got plugged into Highland, deepening my faith and helping me meet some of my closest friends today. I picked up a camera and got back into filming as media team for GSP, Filmfest, and various ACU Student Life projects. I even had the opportunity to plan a charity bike trip, made possible by the free time I gained after receiving a disappointing “no” in GSP officer elections. Another instance where what felt like a setback became an opportunity to do something good.

With each experience, I grew and learned more about who I was. However, I also realized none of those experiences could fully define me. My identity didn’t lie in just one thing (because things change). Not running. Not Oxford. Not cameras or bikes. It lies in Christ. Through every yes and no, every open door and every setback, He was the constant. Even when I didn’t see it, there was always a purpose, and I was being shaped through every turn.

Thank you ACU for the unexpected.
For providing space for new paths and the paths to come. I’m incredibly thankful for these four years and will miss everyone who made it worthwhile. Love you guys and scratch ‘em always :)
