A fitting story for Teacher Appreciation Week! What started as a mock interview during CEHD’s Professional Development Day led WMU Music Education student Madison Vogel to an opportunity to teach a lesson at Schoolcraft Junior/Senior High School, where her passion for choral music and connection with students made an immediate impression. Now, she’s officially joining Schoolcraft Community Schools to lead the 6–12 choral program! Bravo Madison 🎓🎶

Our students had a great time at the @nafme 2025 Collegiate Leadership Advocacy Summit and Hill Day event! Alongside students and educators from across Michigan and around the country, they met with elected officials in D.C. to advocate for the importance of music education.

Yesterday Help M.U.S.I.Cs founder, Makala Latham, and three other Decatur band students were given the opportunity to go to Wind and Percussion Spring Conference! In doing so the got to meet and work with world renowned composer Kevin Day!

Kevin Day is a contemporary American composer known for his innovative and eclectic style. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including jazz, classical, and electronic music, Day creates compositions that are both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant. His works often feature intricate rhythms, lush harmonies, and inventive orchestrations, making him a distinctive voice in the contemporary music scene.

A huge thank you to WMU for this amazing opportunity! @wmusom @kevindaymusic @wmumusiced @wmujazzstudies
