A recent study from Yale researchers projects that universal single payer healthcare could save the United States over one trillion dollars every single year in administrative and medical costs. Over thirteen years, that one trillion dollar annual savings equals thirteen trillion dollars, which matches the exact amount economists estimate is needed to close the racial wealth gap and fund comprehensive federal reparations. When people claim the United States cannot afford reparations, they are ignoring basic economic reality. We have the resources for universal care and the resources for historic repair. 💬 What do you think about connecting public savings directly to economic repair? Drop your thoughts below. #HealthcareForAll #EconomicJustice #ReparationsNow #FundForReparationsNow #systemicrepair

Hahahahaha Hey @gretathunberg, you dropped this: 👑 They’re gonna call you crazy girl!! If there’s one thing I learned, abusers will try to make you sound crazy and the whole time they’re really the crazy ones HAHAHA I loved this response, girl, to our very incompetent president Donald J. Trump… the real anger lies within himself against your truth 🥰 Accusations as confessions of a common, old narrative. “You’re angry” (especially as a Black woman) “You’re crazy” “Get help” Sociopathic… Keep doing what you’re doing!!!🩷 Like someone hitting you on the arm, telling you not to say “ow” —but hasn’t stopped hitting..your arm. They’ll be dead wrong. Call you names. Racial slurs. And then expect you to give so much grace & empathy in return. Who’s really the crazy one? Besides, we get our ‘crazy’ from the generations that endured the crazy before us. Our Mom’s were crazy enough to dream of daughters like you & I ☺️✊🏾✊🏻🗣️🫂 My dad was crazy enough to immigrate to America 🇺🇸 from Haiti 🇭🇹 when he was 12 years old. Although your dad was a Swede for life,🤞🏾🇸🇪 he was crazy enough to put his worry aside to watch you inevitably THRIVE in your political activism & change the WORLD! 🌍 You inspire me to keep going and never stop!!! I’ve never been the one to shy away from the word abuse. By definition, abuse is misuse. Of something or someone. It doesn’t just describe simply cruelty, but the repeatedness of cruel actions that often involve desperate levels of manipulation and lying to get what you want. Abuse can take place obviously at a personal level, but at a national level and even international level. The President of the United States has consistently done this. Never be afraid to call out abuse of power, of anything. It is what you’ve taught me & the world. You really inspire me Speaking up against cruelty..It’s never easy. But you did it even when your voice was shaking. Your strength is showing and we love you for that!! Keep speaking up, girl, you’re an admiration to many. ——And as the white girl that BEST FRIENDED me to death before telling me to ignore her racism, at least it was YOU they chose 😏 @thatvegancowgirl 🤳🏽🤳🏽🤳🏽

Just remember that doctors are not perfect. Doctors are trained to help assist in the healing of your ailments and wounds. And this, my friends, is why I say a prayer before each and every surgery. Trust and have faith! #womensurgeons #womeninmedicine #womenempowerment #minoritiesinmedicine #faith #healthyliving

There has been a recent outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in Harlem, where I live. Legionnaires’ disease is a serious type of pneumonia caused by Legionella bacteria that can grow in water systems. While some healthy people may recover, this illness can be life-threatening for older adults or those with weakened immune systems—similar to what we saw during the COVID outbreak. These infections are not only medical issues, but also reflections of the systems that should be keeping our communities safe. Black and Brown communities are often the most vulnerable to environmental hazards that threaten health, whether it’s aging infrastructure, polluted air, or unsafe water. Clean and safe environments must be viewed as a public health right, not a privilege. The reality is clear: our zip code, our housing, and our neighborhood conditions can impact our health as much as any doctor’s visit—and it’s time to demand better for Harlem and communities like it. #PublicHealthMatters #HealthEquity #HarlemStrong #EnvironmentalJustice #ProtectOurCommunities #Legionnaires #Legionella

When people congratulate me on “finishing my medical training,” I always think to myself: “this is just the beginning!” The more I learn, the more I realize how much traditional and ancestral wisdom exists particularly in the medical field. So grateful for Loubna and everyone I’ve met here in Morocco for sharing their wisdom and expertise with me! #herbalmedicine #traditionalmedicine #doctor #morocco #summertravel

Pregnancy comes with a lot of weird symptoms… but these 3? They’re not the ones to brush off. As a physician AND mom of almost 3, I’ve seen how often these get dismissed — by patients and providers. ✨Have you ever brought up a symptom and been told, “That’s just pregnancy”? 👀 Or maybe you almost ignored something serious? Let’s talk about it 👇🏾 What symptom did you have that turned out to be something more? Or one you wish someone took more seriously? #pregnancyawareness #anesthesiologistmom #preeclampsiaawareness #thirdtrimester #birthstory #pregnancycommunity #momsoftiktok #realpregnancytalk #laboranddeliverytips

Recent decades are rife with stories of revolutionaries who dedicated their lives to liberation for all lacking care at the end of their lives. Let us not repeat those mistakes and take care of those who fought before us.
