✊🏾🗳️ Fellas, it’s time to step up!

Saturday, October 24, is National Black Man Voter Day, a time to recognize the generations of Black men who fought, sacrificed, and risked their lives for the right to vote. That history means something, and we owe it to ourselves and those who came before us to exercise that right.

For me, this is about more than politics or party affiliation. I care about economic opportunity, financial inclusion, quality education, and making sure every person is treated with dignity and respect. The people we elect make decisions that affect our paychecks, our neighborhoods, our families, and our access to opportunities, so who holds these offices matters.

Today Trump did what Trumps does and as election season I need EVERYONE to be hyper vigilant about what’s happening here; no matter your race or ethnicity the TRUTH impacts us all, not this propaganda.

I want to emphasize the fact that racial barriers do in fact change HOW we experience poverty.. yes white people can experience poverty, but can people of color experience white privilege ? No, we cannot. And in truth, poverty is fueled by capitalism.. but what fuels capitalism? The exploitation and oppression of a particular (working) class of people.

When Donald Trump celebrated declining poverty rates among Black, Hispanic, and Native Americans without mentioning white Americans, I immediately thought about something I learned while studying sociology and criminology: POVERTY IS NOT SIMPLY THE ABSENCE OF MONEY.

Poverty is also shaped by systems, institutions, access to resources, generational wealth, and the distribution of power.

A white person struggling financially can still benefit from racial privilege. A Black person with money can still encounter systemic racism. Both realities can exist at the same time.

When we talk about starting from nothing, we have to acknowledge that historically, everybody hasn’t been allowed to start from the same place.

If the Feds watching, might as well give’em something to see 😎

Saturday, October 24th is National Black Man Voter Day, championed by the @naacp , @100blackmen , @naturbanleague , @blackmenvoteofficial and @wokevote ; we want to encourage ALL of our brothers to get registered, get dressed, get informed and get engaged at the polls to make our collective voices heard.

ALL 435 districts of the House of Representatives plus 33 Senate seats are up for election at the federal level, as well as various state-wide and local offices that may be on your ballot, like Sheriff, County Commissioner, or State Supreme Court Justice. THESE ARE ARGUABLY MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE PRESIDENT. Online resources like @ballotpedia can help explain exactly who and what you’re choosing from.

This Saturday, show up fresh as Hell; they’re definitely watching.🗳️
