Women Artists of the DMV: The Thank You Show
Curated by LENNY CAMPELLO @lennycampello

ON VIEW IN GALLERY II
27 JUN–18 OCT

RECEPTION & ARTIST CONVERSATION
w/ THE CURATOR
26 SEP 2:00–4:00PM

The final installment of the acclaimed exhibition, Women Artists of the DMV—the first of its kind survey of female visual artists from the DMV (District, Maryland and Virginia, or the Greater Washington, DC metro area)—comes to BlackRock Center for the Arts.

Over the last year, Women Artists of the DMV has featured the work of more than 700 artists across 20 major art spaces. Using this last stop at BlackRock as a Thank You to the tens of thousands of women artists working in this culturally and ethnically diverse
region, DC-area curator, artist, and arts activist Florencio Lennox “Lenny” Campello has curated an exciting “greatest hits” exhibition, featuring works by over 20 women artists at
all stages of their careers.

"Curating this massive series of exhibitions was a spectacular challenge," notes Campello, "and I learned quite a bit, met many new artists, and saw a lot of spectacular art." He continues, "and yet the top memory that I keep going back to, is how hard and enthusiastically this all became a group effort… thanks to many of these hardworking volunteers who helped assemble this gigantic survey.

The show could not have been produced without the assistance, help, and presence of many of the participating artists! The artists enthusiastically supported the project by building websites, helping install and hang the work, producing videos, expanding the number of venues, engaging with newspapers, TV, and radio stations, etc. This final show is an exuberant THANK YOU from the curator to them!

This is my thank you to them—on behalf of the DMV and all the other artists."
