I’m finally getting around to sharing a few highlights from #Confluence2025 @confluencecarolinas in early October.

Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, it’s amazing to see what’s being cultivated here in my hometown. Still a young conference, but each year only gets better, and I’m honored to be a part of it alongside my fellow programming committee members.

I think what I love most about this conference is the diversity of representation across the industry. Be it the live side, the recorded side, the tech & startup side, or the independent artists speaking on a panel, it really is cool to see all these worlds colliding in one conference.

Big shout out to our friends and industry colleagues for coming to town and sharing some insights for those looking to grow their careers and pave their paths in the music industry.

Let’s do it again in 2026, shall we?

Well, the rumors are true...after an unforgettable 3.5 year run at the Birthplace of Country Music, I’m leaving my role on the marketing team for a new adventure.

Soon I’ll be joining the tourism team over at Visit Abingdon, and I’m so stoked to start creating for such a beautiful and historic town!

For all my music friends, you’ll still find me behind the lens at shows and festivals across the Southeast, so I’m not going anywhere! 🎶😘

That said, BCM will always hold a special place in my heart. It was where I shot my first concert, my first festival, and worked with my first artist, and has shaped me as a live music photographer in ways I never could have imagined. Capturing the magic of @radio_bristol’s Farm and Fun Time and @bristolrhythm have been by far the most fulfilling experiences during my time at BCM, and I’m excited that I’ll continue photographing these moving forward, staying close to the music I love so much. ❤️

Beyond the work, I’ll never forget my BCM coworkers and the incredibly talented folks I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with over the years. Those friendships have been the most memorable part of this journey. Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of this chapter. You know who you are. On to the next one! 💛✨

Now enjoy this look back through some of the fun from the past few years…my camera roll may have seen some things 👀➡️

Wow. I had no idea who this band was and I have been MISSING OUT! Crowe Boys got something really special happening and some of that magic has to come from them being family. The lyrics they bring alive through their singing resonates deep ya’ll. Gratitude. Also, sometimes bands bring string lights that make for good “smiley face” lighting looks lol

At last year’s Confluence in “The Economics of Live Performance,” Micah Davidson, Mike Killeen, LouisTee, and Wes Gilliam gave valuable insights on how to make live performances artistically rewarding and economically sustainable. The customer service experience at venues also establishes customer loyalty and strongly impacts whether or not patrons will support a given venue financially again.

We're excited to hear more about venues in our “Creative Revenue Strategies for Venues” session at Confluence this October🎵

Happy DSP Shout-out Sunday!

Following on from the past two Sunday shout-out to a couple of my cherished WNC music venue clients, it should come as no surprise that this week's shout-out goes to the folks at the Beech Mountain Resort up near Boone, NC.

Though 2024 is only third year collaborating with the resort, I couldn't be happier filling up a few dates this summer for their ridiculously delicious Summer Concert Series line-up (check out the Beech Mtn Resort website for details).

It's been a real pleasure documenting their big summer shows, a few winter indoor shows at @beechmtnbrewingco, and a variety of photos out and about on the mountain.

All of the BMR staff are super friendly and accommodating, and I'd remiss not to mention that the resort parters with some of the best production people in the business (Midwood Entertainment and Codex Sound Company -- two candidates for future shout-outs, so I'll make this mention brief!).

As you can see from the first photo in this post, the setting of the big stage at the base of the ski mountain is breathtaking particularly if Mother Nature blesses us with a colorful sunset. Also included in the photos are a few crowd and concert highlights (Watchhouse / 49 Winchester / My Morning Jacket / Grace Potter / Steep Canyon Rangers).

I'm super stoked to heading to the mountain on June 8th to kick off the summer concerts with the String Cheese Incident and The Wood Brothers. See y'all there!
