Carving the sound of broken bones and desperate cries through analog decay since MMXIV

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We opened this week’s transmission with three emotionally charged pieces, beginning with “Burial and Cremation” from the Gudsforladt / Molocchio split. I’ve listened to this record a dozen times already, and I still can’t shake this song. The raw melodies soar, carrying you across forgotten battlefields and landscapes marked by blood and grief and loss, but there’s something deeply human at its center, too. Despair and hope, the weight of history, the bonds between people who have endured something together. It feels enormous and intimate all at once. Each song by both bands on the split tell potent stories of valor and the unbearable burden of loss.

From there, we travelled scarred lands with SVRM and a new single from Wolves in the Throne Room, paid our respects to a fallen legend, and spent the night shifting between distant histories, imagined worlds, and forests turning to autumn. There was plenty of new material along the way, a nod to Ruïm’s incredible performance at Covenant festival a few short weeks ago.

The final 3 songs tell tales of heroic kings, warring old gods, and the formation of a powerful ancient alliance at Michilimackinac. The story of that alliance is told through Pan-Amerikan Native Front’s Live on KEXP performance of “Blazing Winds of the Three Fires.” That entire session hits so hard and is worth revisiting. They released a new EP today and it's a ripper!

Summer flowers, autumn forests, distant kingdoms.

Seek & Destroy airs every Saturday night from Midnight-2am PT on 90.3 FM Seattle, 92.7 FM Bay Area, and streams worldwide, on demand anytime through KEXP.org and the KEXP mobile app.

Witnessing Dödsrit live at @viennametalmeeting.official felt like standing in the middle of a beautiful storm.

They were one of those bands I had somehow overlooked—until seeing their set at @arenawien completely blew me away. The melodic black metal energy combined with heavy crust punk riffs felt like a wave hitting the crowd. Still riding the adrenaline from this performance.

Dödsrit - Nocturnal Will

Caught Dödsrit opening for Blackbraid alongside Lamp of Murmuur about a year ago. Easily one of the better lineups I caught in 2025. Killer riffs, crust, and melody… a really solid album. Nothing too crazy about this pressing, just black wax from Wolves of Hades.

Triumf!

Triumph!
That’s the easiest way to put words to the emotion Dödsrit yields with their melodic black metal rooted in crust. The songs may be carved from melancholy and hardships, but the crushing intensity, the pulsating crescedos and glimmering guitar leads ignites an exultant fire to light up the night.

Dödsrit has grown from a solo project to a collaboration between musicians
from Sweden and the Netherlands. Five true masters of transforming sorrow to a force strong enough to carry the heaviest of souls.

We’re incredibly happy to welcome one of the most requested bands to Skurup Slaughter this December. 🔥🔥🔥

• High Roller Records unboxing •

@highrollerrecordsofficial

You've voted for the unboxing so here you are.
When I once found out about HRR my wallet was crying. This label/shop has so so many amazing records. A lot I've been looking for for quite a while and this isn't the first time I've been ordering from their store. And no, this is no advertising. I wish it was but no there's no cooperation with HRR.

I was finally able to complete the Blackbraid discography with their third album and also been looking for exactly these versions of the Lamp of Murmuur records for a while. How could I not order then? Especially when the prices are absolutely fair and the shipping is great!

And I absolutely didn't intend to get the Mayhem album as I thought I wouldn't like it but I found it for a really good price on Vinted. So yeah, adding the black version (Italian pressing) to my collection now. And honestly? The album isn't any bad at all!

But enough of that. Enough of my stuff.
I wanna hear about the latest albums, records whatsoever you got! Let me know below!

Today it is my great pleasure to present a new split album between @gudsforladt and @molocchio - The Sword and the Scepter.

This will be the second release from Molocchio, and the first from Gudsforladt since 2022’s masterful Friendship, Love and War, and it is as searingly powerful, regal, adventurous, and atmospheric as that was. And another incredible cover artwork too.

The first side comes from Molocchio, opening with sombre organ and explosive spiralling lead guitars that weave into thundering percussion and riffs, and folk interludes with a stony sense of medievalism, like the releases from Kaikkivaltias. Then comes Gudsforladt with tracks like Burial and Cremation that are a pure rush of sensation, Two Departures which switches blackened tremolo rasp into heavy metal galloping, and the climactic concluding track that is layers of rousing drama and soaring voices.

And that barely touches on the richness of detail in these tracks, in a split of twinned minds, singular vision and expansive sound. A pact between artists, consecrated between the divine and the profane, between dawn and dusk, between the sword and the scepter.

Released in digital format today, Wednesday 7th October, physical editions will be released through @wolvesofhades later in the year.

HARK! For the first time in four years the silence of THE RIDER is broken. The lord of whispers and sleepless nights, the one who haunts the nightmares of the vermin who crawl through the world below, the one they call with hushed voices “MOLOCCHIO”, leads the downward charge - deep underground, wielding an ancient and cleansing power. Behind him, THE RIDER is close at hand. They seek something in the belly of the world, something that will consecrate this wicked pact, this unholy covenant between THE SWORD AND THE SCEPTER.
