Beyond excited to announce October’s Club Wonder lineup! Feat. two of my favorite non-NYC based poets (Casper Lee and Stella Corso), and two NYC-based poets who, if you haven’t heard read yet, you’re overdue (Riley Mac and Yuyi Chen). I know I say this everytime, but this is going to be a special reading. Beauty, brains, brawn, freaky gay vibes- what more could you ask for really?

Tuesday, October 6, 7-9pm @seventhheaven.bar

Hope to see you there! 😋💘

Now announcing October classes with an updated day!
Offering two sections, online and person. Link in bio

In this four-week writing workshop, we will dive into the provocative and lush composition of Pier Paolo Pasolini's "Trilogy of Life" (The Decameron, The Canterbury Tales, Arabian Nights) and the first film of his "Trilogy of Death”, Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom. Each week, we will explore one film as both a standalone work of art and an entry into larger conversations on aesthetics, politics, and queer theory as well as Pasolini’s concepts of the "aesthetics of contamination" and the “cinema of poetry”. We will engage with supplementary readings of criticism and poetry that include Pasolini’s own writings, as well as texts from Cesar Vallejo, Robert Gluck, Italo Calvino, Guy Hocquenghem, Bob Kaufman, and others. Through these viewings, readings and discussions we will explore the oral tradition of poetry and ekphrastic form to generate writing. Weekly poetry prompts will be assigned and robust time will be reserved in each class to discuss and edit students’ work that they composed for that week. $100-200 per student. Wednesdays, 6-8pm in person at Wendy’s Subway as well as an online offering Sundays 4-6pm ET

Need based scholarships offered upon request

Or all the presses you were really hoping to go see but then you were up really late and just kind of needed to stay at home that day and rewatch The Wire. We got you. Full. Happy 5 years dykes day!

We’ve consistently celebrated in Leo Season, which is when we had a huge party at @thedewdropinndc around 2023. This August, we hit Philly for @reunionpoetry, and here’s a recap/insight/moodboard for that time.
It’s been 5 years since dykes day was concepted. we’ve been digging and moving a lot, looking back and forward. All we intended to do was fill a gap for experimental Black lesbian literature in DC. There seemed to be a lot of experimental readings and performance in Baltimore, and NY of course, but not really DC outside of slam poetry and music scene. so we did it and it’s been a really fun to learn and connect with so many writers and creators all over. Today, we put out a newsletter talking about some change and growth, what we built and continue building, and what’s next. you definitely don’t want to miss out on this info, so read it and weep. there’s some tea, some opportunities, and even some noise. If you got the email, comment an emoji to boost our algo uppppppp. don’t be shy. repost, and share our work with a friend.

Here’s what I picked up from @bombmag’s small book fair yesterday. It was very tempting to buy a lot more, but I showed some (for me) restraint!
