Did you know most of us end up using MDi needle incorrectly and that hidden lumps that are not always visible under our skin can affect our insulin absorbtion dramatically?
.
Last week I had an amazing opportunity to be a part of the #shapingbd event in Birmingham along with some really inspiring diabuddies and I really after all this time learned so much about MDI.
.
.
The event was meant to give us an overview of the proposed education plans on injection technique especially but not only directed towards newly diagnosed #type1 s or #type2oninsulin and to include our feedback and thoughts on their starter kits.
.
.
They invited us to give feedback and help shape the programme and I am so glad to see that medical companies finally begin to value our feedback and start to really take us seriously. Reaching out to patients directly making sure the education in how needles should be used is very importantly addressed and distributed.
.
.
I am a huge advocate for online access to diabetes education because so many of us didn't get any at diagnosis or even many years after that and learning about all your options and possibilities is super important and accessing that kind of information through your local practice is not always an option.
.
.
I will continue to post more of what I learned from #shapingbd in bite size info and cute images soon !

⭐️Venue Confirmed⭐️

Our first meet up is less that 3 weeks away and we can confirm that it will be taking place at Slug & Lettuce Manchester Piccadilly- starting at 2pm till whenever we’ve done! Food and drink is available to purchase from the venue on the day.
.
🚂Slug & Lettuce is only an 8 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly station for those of you travelling by train.
.
🚙There is also a good few car parks around the areas for anyone travelling by car.
.

• Meeting some amazing fellow Type 1 Diabetics! 💙 •

On Saturday, I had the privilege to meet some amazing fellow Type 1 Diabetics at the ‘Shaping BD’s Starter Programme’ event at the Hoten Du Vin, in Birmingham who, I have to be honest, I’ve been following online for quite a while. •
.
They’ve all been a real inspiration to me and meeting them offered us the chance to open up about our journeys in a lot more detail face to face. •
.
The bond you make with fellow Type 1 Diabetics in the online community is just brilliant. Having someone who can totally understand what you’re going through is just so vital, in my honest opinion. •
.
Also, speaking to medical professionals too can have a huge impact on your mental well-being so having that opportunity too was lovely. •
