@theimpactcollab is getting closer to our 150 cap, so we’re officially switching to a quarterly intake rhythm!

Just 20 spots are open for trialists, three months’ access for a single flat fee ($144), and at the end of the period we both decide if the fit is right.

This comes from many, many chats with Hilary Callaghan (founder @unpackingcapitalism) about how we honour our energy and set a realistic capacity that balances income, impact and freedom.

Applications close midnight Monday 16 November, then our doors shut until March.

Find out more at our new landing page, built by @faithlimantono, with designs from @yvette_eng and impact supercharge from Elaine Hendrick (Elaine Hendrick Consulting)

WonderPlay Studio is our neuroinclusive coworking and event space in Darlinghurst. I co-run it with Bali Padda.

It is a place to cowork, create, run workshops and events.

It is designed so all neurotypes can do their best work. Natural light. Plants. Tables on wheels that move to suit the group. A soft rug. A booth to step into when you need a break from the room. A dedicated quiet space.

Here is what happens in the studio.

Coworking for people who want to work around others without the noise of a standard office.

Female Founders Day with One Roof, on the second Friday of every month.

Writers in Residence program and Impacto Innovators.

Workshops, training and WonderPlay sessions for teams and organisations.

Events that bring people together.

This is a safe space to be who you are.

Come and work + play with us.

Level 2, 101–111 William Street, Darlinghurst.

Tomorrow: training.

It shows a cartoon watermelon slice walking. A plant cutting sits in a glass bottle beside it. Text reads: WonderPlay Studio.

WEEK 1~ Inspired by the daily vlogs of actor @michaela.da.costa, felt I should give this a go. 🥹 This week was chockablocka but so many highlights - some special mentions:

Kicked off with our Residency Showcase at @wonderplay_studio! @hearheroarproductions truly took over for the night. @carolinelgeorge performed an excerpt of her stand-up and we did a new excerpt reading of my play ‘Kopi-Diem’. I couldn’t be more grateful to Caroline, Jay Murrin and all our wonderful actors who partook in a reading: @loisohis @katherinenheu @pheeb.lumley @themarcusrivera @kimietsuka @gabbychan_official - Talk about DREAM TEAM.

@circuslionfilm Australian premiere was a real treat celebrating artists I’ve known for years. Thank you @tigrantovmasiann for asking me to photograph the event. Also shoutout @raymondtian for letting me borrow gear 🥺🙏

The Ring and I by @kimietsuka and @jaredjekyll - a show I’ll be thinking about for a long time. As a horror/rock/MT girlie, this was the perfect combination of elements. My cheeks were sore from laughing and smiling the whole time.

@narracoop - what an amazing community this is with such initiatives spearheading the way for Filipino-Australians to come. Congratulations to all honourees!!

TLDR; the creative life is one of ebbs and flows. This one was a strong ebb and I’m excited to share more 🥹❤️

I'm currently "in residence" at WonderPlay Studio, an awesome neuroinclusive co-work space in the bottom of Darlinghurst on William St - amazing human legends supporting new Australian play and playwriting and writing generally.

I've ben working on a range of different new stuff - one play, one musical, one TV show (terrifying), but I think my play Carter Chase (or some goodly chunk of it) is gonna be ready for it's first public reading

It's a play about that time I fell for a homeless guy, left him in stewardship of my home, and then all my stuff got stolen, and I snapped my ACL while 500km away the same day... and then I had to figure out what the fuck had been going on in my life, my apartment, my body, my brain and the world all while stuck in the very same trashed apartment alone unable to walk for six weeks.
It's pretty fun and funny tho hey, y'know, coz hindsight and thousands spent on therapy.

Come hear all about a wild episode of me unequivocally being the drama - hardly an isolated incident, but the first I've fully dramatised for your viewing pleasure. (Though of course being the drama is kinda just treating your whole life like it is one; make the decisions you would make to keep the story interesting, observe just how far the splatter extends when all of life's excrement inevitably crashes headlong into the fast rotating blades of the ceiling-mounted of life.)

The reading will be calm and drama fee though ... except, like, in the writing .... obvs.

Autistic Thinking Matters
World Autism Day. April 2.

There is a small bamboo bowl on every desk at WonderPlay Studio. Filled with LEGO. A sign beside it says take a moment, play, breathe.
When neurodivergent people walk in they reach for it immediately. When neurotypical people find it on their desk they squeal with delight.

This was not designed for them. And yet.

WonderPlay Studio is Australia’s first neuroinclusive coworking and event space. Every design decision started with autistic experience and moved outward. Every person who walks out of the lift lets a deep breath out. They all say some version of “oh it feels so nice in here.”
That breath is the whole argument.

Autistic people do not stop playing when they reach a certain age. And when the rest of the world stops playing, we lose something we cannot name until it is gone. Connection. Discovery. Wonder. Joy.

An autistic elder said something to me recently I have not stopped thinking about. Preserve your autistic thinking. It really matters. We will provide things for the world that others will not.

Today I am not here to talk about the NDIS or incremental inclusion or defend my right not to have superpowers twenty four hours a day.

I am not even here to talk about the incredible and impactful work we are doing at Wondiverse.

I am here to honour autistic thinking.

And to stand for it being at the centre of every conversation that matters.

April 2. World Autism Day.
