There’s one thing a boutique condo CAN’T give you - and it’s a really important thing.

Downsizers and urban families love boutique buildings. Especially those who have never lived in a condo before .

I totally get it, in fact most of my favourite condos in Midtown Toronto are boutique buildings.

You want something that feels like a home, a house, a community.

But the one thing most boutique condos lack and what is hard to find in these building types is A BEAUTIFUL, UNOBSTRUCTED, FOREVER VIEW.

I’m talking the tops of mature trees, beautiful residential neighbourhoods, skylines, or up and down Yonge street.

This is hard to find in boutique buildings because they only have so many storeys and most of them there is some sort of obstruction on these low level units.

Furthermore, you may not get that bright airy feel in your home like you see use to, or like what so many taller condos have to offer. Beautiful sunlight coming into your home can make all the different in your mood and productivity as well.

The importance of fantastic views in a building was brought to my attention during an exclusive broker event I attended today for an upcoming launch of a very special and precious building called The Summerhill Residences by Summerhill resident family builder @woodcliffe

Imagine the feel of boutique living, only a couple suites per floor, but with outstanding forever views of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of Midtown Toronto.

Stay tuned for a sneak peek in my upcoming videos.

Not a gallery. Absolutely Fabrics.

Summerhill and Rosedale have exquisite taste, and the developments going up around it are no exception. Some under construction, some coming soon.

THE SUMMERHILL by @woodcliffe is designed around a simple idea: every detail matters.

Set within one of Toronto’s most established neighbourhoods, the project creates a thoughtful connection between what has always defined Summerhill and what comes next. Through bespoke visualizations, that relationship comes to life, capturing the architecture, refined interiors, expansive views, and intimate moments that define this new expression of home.

Our approach was about more than showcasing the spaces. It was about creating a visual story that brings the scale, character, and experience of The Summerhill into focus.

The Summerhill presents a contemporary interpretation of Toronto’s historic single-family homes. The ordered façade of porcelain tile and bronzed aluminum is punctuated with alternating corner balconies that give the building presence, rhythm, and movement. At grade, the restored Italianate frontage re-establishes Yonge Street’s pattern of storefronts with apartments above, while the Birch Avenue side shifts to a quieter residential scale with a defined entry and discreet porte-cochère.

What a wild day. We are incredibly grateful to find ourselves on a list with so many titans of the bar world! Thank you to everyone on the team, past and present, for their hard work, dedication to each other, and capacity to connect with our guests.

Andree, Elise and Jam have all worked so very very had to make this happen both behind the scenes and on the front line, we cannot imagine this project without them. Special thanks to Gord and Jorge who returned to help host the viewing party while we were out of town! Also want to thank Woodcliffe Properties for putting up with our mad ideas and odd requests, they have been great partners over the last 18 months.

We look forward to continuing to stumble through the world as a team, trying to make some great drinks and nice moments along the way.

It's not the destination, it's the friends you make along the way.

I am very excited to announce that I’ve joined the team at @waterworksto as their Senior Operations Manager! This new chapter for me signifies major growth and a realignment in my career to work with a passionate and involved team of individuals, dedicated to investing in elevating the hospitality experience at the Hall and developing me further as a professional. ✨

I will be leading operations for the beautifully restored Waterworks Food Hall building spanning 55,000 sq ft that is home to 20+ vendors and 6 private event spaces.

2026 is going to be the best one yet! #happynewyear #newbeginnings #hospitality #toronto #foodhall

Hi Friends,
I wanted to share with you all that I’ll be retiring from Civil Works, with my last day being November 3.
My exit has been planned for a little while now, and the team is in place to take over the reigns.
My plan was to work here for eight months — but what can I say, I fell in love with the place. With the people. With the energy we built together. What was meant to be a temporary opening gig turned into one of the most meaningful chapters of my career.
We’ve had so many incredible wins this year. I’ll never forget watching the announcement when we landed at #55 — or the moment Elise, Jorge, and Nick took the stage to accept the award for Best Cocktail Menu in North America. And then came World Class — the ultimate high.. Seeing our staff work side by side with the best bartenders in the world was something I won’t soon forget. Watching us move with precision, grace, and speed — seeing that we could dance at that level — had me absolutely beaming with pride. That week reminded me that Civil Works truly belongs on the world stage.
I want to give a huge thanks to @woodcliffe for believing in this little pirate ship. Without your team and guidance, we never would have made it this far. I also want to thank Nick, Andree, and Elise for bringing me onto this project. It’s been truly wonderful working alongside people who are masters of their craft.
Together, we’ve built something special — a bar that feels alive, a space people seek out not just for great drinks, but for the warmth, creativity, and connection that each of you bring to it every night.
Over the next two weeks, I’ll be handing off to our incredible manager and supervisor team. Remember—there are no goodbyes in this industry, we just move around. Civil Works will always be my favourite bar in the city, and I can’t wait to cheer you while i begin me next adventure
To the staff, thank you for the laughs, the long nights, the chaos, the calm, and the pride you bring to every shift. You’ve given me more than I can ever properly thank you for.

With gratitude and love,
Gord Hannah
