They designed a seven bedroom home in ten days and never got paid a cent.

Early in their business, Jacinta and Sonia of @woodsandwarner put everything into one big job. Every fabric was picked, every piece of furniture was in stock and the trades were on standby. Then, in a tiny meeting room, they were told it wasn’t going ahead. There was no contract and no design fee. They had nothing.

That moment changed how they run their studio. Twenty years on, they charge for their time, they read every contract line by line and they’ll tell you design is only half the job.

Your portfolio doesn’t look like one studio. Is that deliberate?

Warner were told to pick five suppliers, five ways of presenting and five ways of producing a scheme, and never step outside that box, because it’s the easiest way to make money. They chose the opposite. They read the client, find what they can’t put into words, and design that instead.
