As we reflect on the success of this year’s World Cleanup Day, our hearts are filled with gratitude.

This journey would not have been possible without the partners, supporters, volunteers, organizations, and individuals who believed in our dream and stood with us by giving their time, resources, in-kind donations, and financial support.

Every contribution, big or small, helped make a difference. You believed in the vision, showed up for the community, and reminded us that creating a cleaner and healthier environment is a shared responsibility.

To everyone who supported, participated, mobilized, provided refreshments, PPE, water, equipment, and other resources thank you sincerely. We are deeply grateful.

The work does not end with one cleanup. It starts with the choices we make every day.

Together, let’s be mindful of our wastes.
Together, let’s protect our communities.
Together, let’s build cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable spaces for everyone. ♻️

Why we do this 🌍

Our recent Tarka Trail & Estuary Clean-Up for @worldcleanupday.uk filled bags, cleared waste, and brought North Devon together – businesses, councils, schools, families, all in it side by side.

But the ‘why’ runs deeper than the litter we picked up.

✅Showing up matters. Proof that community action works – and that it’s a normal thing to do, not a big one.

✅The data matters. What we collect feeds national & global lobbying, including Surfers Against Sewage and World Cleanup Day’s push for better policy.

✅Plastic isn’t a side issue. Production is set to triple by 2060. It’s in our water, our food, even our bodies – and it’s tangled up with the climate crisis too.

✅The big talks are failing us. The Global Plastics Treaty collapsed last year, pushed off course by fossil fuel lobbying. When global policy stalls, local action fills the gap.

✅Businesses can move faster than governments. Every team that joins us carries that energy back into their own community – and that’s how one day becomes a shift in culture.

We’re not powerless. And days like this prove it. 💚

Your move:
👉 Whether you’re a businesses or an individual: lead by example, take action, consume consciously, speak up and don’t forget to vote.

What’s next… join our Day of Action on 30 Jan 2027, or find a regular clean.

On 19 September, communities, organizations, and 350+ Eco Warriors came together along the Southern Bypass in Lang’ata for a shared responsibility: keeping our environment clean and confronting food waste.

Through collective action, we cleaned, learned, and shared ideas on practical waste-management solutions, reminding us that a cleaner environment begins with what we do every day.

Together, we act. Together, we keep our communities clean.

A cleaner neighbourhood starts with people coming together.

For the World Clean Up 2026 in Birmingham, we joined Al Abbas Islamic Centre, WhoIsHussain and CleanupUK, as volunteers came together to clear local streets, collect litter and care for the spaces we all share.

A few hours, many helping hands and a shared effort made the day a meaningful reminder that caring for our neighbourhood is something we can all take part in.

Small actions lead to big changes! On 19th September, we joined the global movement to clear the clutter and protect our beautiful planet. Every piece of litter picked up is a win for our oceans, forests, and future generations. Let’s keep our home clean, green, and thriving. How are you contributing to World Cleanup Day? 🌍✨ #WorldCleanupDay #CleanPlanet #EcoFriendly #kenya #ActNow

20th September was a World Cleanup Day(@worldcleanupday.uk) but for us, it was just a regular Sunday, because this is what we do every week. Travel to public places to keep them clean.👍😃

Grangewood park isn't a place we typically visit and is a bit further than our usual spots but that doesn't make it any less important of a location to keep clean.🚮♻️

Thanks to everyone who came by to help us.🙌

If you're interested in joining our sessions or just want to find out more about what we do, follow us @norwoodjunkaction or check out our website:👇

We look forward to seeing you. 👋

Also, a big well done to the team at @friendsofgrangewoodpark for putting on an amazing family friendly event.🎉

What a successful World Cleanup Day 2026!

Together with different organizations, partners, and community members, we came together as one to clean the Southern Bypass in Lang’ata, near Tumaini Hope Centre.

After the cleanup, we turned our attention to this year’s theme: Food Waste Management exploring how we can reduce food waste, improve waste practices, and build cleaner, more sustainable communities.

Different hands, one purpose. A cleaner environment starts with all of us.

Cheers to more cleanups, more awareness, and stronger communities. 🌱♻️

World clean up day 2026 - 20th September 🚮

What a great day. We cleared over 70 bags of rubbish in total, plus over 50 canisters, and several other large items of waste. Great work from all involved, making the streets of Manchester and Salford that little bit tidier!

We had equipment provided from the lovely people at @cleanupsalford & @keep_manchester_tidy available at @eagleinn from 12-4.

Over 20 people came and picked up equipment, picked some litter, and earned themselves a free pint at the eagle 🍻

Spending so much time with different people who had all come together to tackle the same problem, meant that there were some great conversations about how we can kick on with this and make a bigger impact, and there are some exciting things to come in the not to distant future 💭

Post from @cleanupsalford on Facebook - give them a follow on there and keep up to date with all of their excellent work! They really are litter picking machines 🤖

One haul from the grot spot - anyone lost a mattress?

Litter picked from the Salford side of the River Irwell

13 nos canisters buried in 1 spot. Crazy that people drive round in their car with them and then just dump them. Surely they’ve seen a bin along the way?

From the Manchester side of the river Irwell

From the streets between the eagle and the river - good to see that this area has remained somewhat clean after our pick a month or so ago!

Queen street car park. How there is so much litter in such a small place is beyond me!

WHAT A WORLD CLEANUP DAY! 👏🌍

A huge thank you to all 78 of our volunteering heroes who came out across our morning, afternoon and evening events ❤️

🚮 We collected a whopping 54 bags of litter!

And an enormous Wombling well done to those who went the extra mile and attended multiple events throughout the day – Simon, Ivana & Nikki x2, AND Harry with x3! 🥳

We joined a worldwide effort as part of @worldcleanupday.global, alongside thousands of litter heroes doing their bit for their local communities.

It was a special day filled with connection, friendly teamwork, enjoying the great outdoors and, of course…a load of rubbish! 🤭

We can’t wait to do it all again next week 💚
