POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

14 years ago, there was a seismic moment in the development of African cycling: On 12 August 2012, Rwanda’s Adrien Niyonshuti @niyonshutiadrien87 finished the XCO mountain bike race at the Olympics - the first Rwandan and East African rider ever to do so!

For the latest episode of the @africarisingcycling Podcast, we sat down with Adrien to talk about that pivotal moment for him and Rwanda at #London2012 and the release that year of the incredible Rising From Ashes The Movie - Directed by @tcjohnstone & narrated by @forestwhitaker - about Adrien’s life to that point; his work for several years with the @fbc_cyclisme (the Bénin Cycling Federation); and most recently now as a coach for the UCI’s @uci_wcc He is truly an inspirational man! ❤️🇷🇼🌍

We were most happy to have our long-term friend @worldcupdan join the recording as he was the MC of the race at #London2012, and talks fondly of meeting Adrien and the effect his presence had on the event and the crowd ❤️🇷🇼

You can listen to the podcast on all major podcast channels, links can be found in our bio above ⬆️

We might be biased but picking up single use pollution feels pretty easy… so at @malvernsclassic we thought we should make it a bit harder with a blindfold!

With one person collecting and the other giving directions - turns out to the ultimate teamwork challenge (and perfect for GoPro footage! @francis_bourgeois43)

Fancy giving it a go yourself? Pop by our tent this weekend or have a try at home and let us know how it goes!

Day 1 post TDF(s): You definitely miss them when they are gone!! Driving in Switzerland today was, as always on the Monday, weird.

The fans at both the @letourdefrance and @letourfemmes avec @gozwift have been simply awesome! Party mad, total fans, well behaved, and passionate about this epic sport we call cycling! Never stop you mad b*ggers!

Glad I was able to introduce a few new folk to the incredible spectacle of La Grande Boucle and am sure all of them will be back! 💛💛

Kudos to all the epic commentators, journalists, data gurus and podcasters who brought the race to life online and in print too.

The @qhubeka Charity promo car occupants have been kept entertained on several of the longer transfers with the great @thecyclingpodcast & @gtcyclingclub podcasts, as well as many sing-a-longs to the @llbeefeaters playlists!

It has been the most successful TDF & TDFFaZ events yet for Qhubeka, with many donations and pledges coming in. Lots of interest in partnering with Qhubeka for client cycling events, get in touch if you want to discuss same.

And it’s not over yet: watch this space for an incredible fundraiser launching tomorrow….

Absolutely gutted to see the news Jez Avery has passed away. One of the absolute legends of UK Mountain biking since the late 80s/early 90s 😭🙏

The man who got me into Mountain Bike racing after seeing him do some insane tricks and jumps at the South Dartmoor MTB Centre back in 1990. Also got me hooked on racing Proflex bikes for 8 years!

Far too soon. So so sad. RIP ‘Jumping Jez’ 😭😭

Our team here at @africarisingcycling runs projects regularly to get vital cycling equipment to folks that need them the most across the African continent.

We rely on donations of new/unused equipment and funding from our donors and supporters to make these projects happen.

Please join us in huge thanks @reillycycleworks for donating so much from their stores & spares from customer upgrades! Just amazing!

The long sail from the UK to @masakacyclingclub in Uganda is complete! 🇺🇬
