Wednesday night in Leduc.

We walked in as a finalist in 2 categories at the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction.

We walked out with the Small Business Award of Distinction!

I did not have a speech ready.

Lesson learned.

11 years ago this was a tiny idea with a lot of hope attached.

Today it is a team that shows up every single day for our clients, our community and each other.

This one is theirs.

The room was full of incredible Alberta businesses.

Robotics. Candles. Dog treats. Energy. Salons. Puppy training.

Every single finalist deserved to be on that stage.

Hats off to Bird Creatives, Dear Dog Treats, Mountain View Events and PASS Electric in our category.

A moment for these custom pieces by @garrettjbol @worldofvici. Justin’s entire suit and shirt and my blazer were bespoke by Garrett. The attention to detail and easy top to bottom service of every piece I’ve had made by them (there’s a few) have been a dream.

Basically this night was exactly what every weekend out we’ve had, minus the wedding dress and the suit + every person we hang out with- all at once. 🙏🍾 I’ve never been the girl to plan my wedding, what it will look like or any of the fine details. I’ve only ever known what I want my life to feel like, what I want the day I get married to feel like and who I wanted by my side. The man is beyond my wildest dreams and every person who attended made us feel love beyond comprehension. 2 years of wedding shinanigans and it couldn’t have wrapped up better.

Today was real special.

A life long friend of mine asked me why I do what I do the other day. I thought about it, because at first my head went to the logical side of the things that I do.
Make music. Write. Host. Create. Inspire. Coach. Bike. Weight train. Podcast. Drum. Cheer for the Flames. Drink coffee. Speak my mind. Meditate… Like all the stuff…
What felt most grounded was when I came to realize what’s at the heart of all of that. People.
I really like people.
I like seeing people win. Bringing them together, defying the odds and watching them win together.
That’s what I told my friend. And today was that.

Thanks for being a part of this farm kid’s crazy-ass dream. It’s getting closer and boy, oh boy does it take a village.
I love you all. 🫶
It got me thinking…
I wrote this song called “moments.” about our how easy it is to forget to appreciate the little things like days like this and the people that make them.
It is available to stream for the time being, and I’d like to challenge you. Especially if you say you support independent art and the people who make it.

Go out and buy a song. @bandcamp Friday is happening Sept 4, where artists keep all the proceeds from sales and if my music isn’t your thing, go find an artist who is and support them.

We need art now more than ever and we need to find ways to make the music industry more sustainable. Not just for the artists, but all the support staff—the audio, the video, the photos, hair, makeup, the stage hands… the people making shit happen behind the scenes who never get the accolades. Never get to be celebrated. I’m sick of that.
